The shape and form of Stecco makes an immediate connection to naturea nd to the animal world. It was named for its looks – as an insect is known for its ability to disguise itself and its remarkable ability to camouflage among branches and leaves, so Stecco’s vaguely anthropomorphic shapes fits harmoniously into open-air spaces.

Stecco-Fima-Carlo-Frattini
The new Stecco outdoor shower in the burgundy red finish.

The main body is a metal tube that rises from the ground and ends with the housing of the pullout hand shower. It stands on two thin legs that evoke the shape of a slender animal with a long and elegant silhouette, just like Stecco.

Stecco-Fima-Carlo-FrattiniThe main feature of the shower is the freedom of movement and positioning. This is a feature common throughout the entire collection and serves to showcase the formal purity of the lines of each element. Water is turned on and off using a practical foot switch, while the removable hand shower – the “head” of the stick insect – is designed to create an easy grip and can be pulled until it reaches the desired height.

The Ingiro collection by Fima Carlo Frattini designed by Lorenzo Damiani. L-R: Stecco showerhead in the new burgundy red finish; Ingiro freestanding showerhead with table in sand grey finish; Ingiro shower column in sand grey finish.

As with all products in the Ingiro collection, Stecco is available in steel finish, grey, blue and green, and now offered in burgundy red and sand grey, two new colours that match additional outdoor environments. Burgundy red is a rich pigment that tends towards red ochre with a hint of burnt brown, while sand grey with more neutral shades is warm and intense with a hint of beige that recalls natural fabrics such as hemp and jute.

Bringing a lovely playfulness to outdoor spaces, Stecco represents the design philosophy of Fima Carlo Frattini perfectly. The company continually seeks to express unique and innovative solutions in search of design, quality and functionality with particular attention on the environment and eco-sustainability.

Lustra & Fiola from Ethimo https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/06/25/lustra-fiola-from-ethimo/ Mon, 24 Jun 2024 20:00:27 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=27222 ]]> Ethimo and Luca Nichetto create new inspirations in decor for adding lighting and character to outdoor spaces, a mix of traditional knowhow and contemporary design.

Lustra, the new floor lamp, and Folia, the original stool-table, become ‘symbols’ of how a timeless material like wrought iron can be reworked to personalise and enhance today’s living spaces.

Ethimo-Folia-LustraWhen used to create functional and ornamental pieces and objects, wrought iron brings with it an elegant legacy of Italian craftsmanship. This capacity has always been considered an art that has preserved its relevance over time, thanks to experimentation and innovation evolving to adapt to the different architectural and decorative trends.

Ethimo-Folia-LustraLustra is a floor lamp with a strong theatrical presence and innate elegance that rises to a height of two metres, with a one-metre diameter and a cap in blown glass.

Ethimo-Folia-LustraThe special working of the iron makes it a decorative element that transmits a welcoming warm mood; when lit, as well as doing its job providing diffused ambient lighting, it also creates a special eye-catching play of light and reflections that turn it into a true focal point in any setting. Ideal for illuminating dining areas, living spaces and zones for relaxing in the open air in any season, Lustra is perfectly waterproof and resistant to the elements.

Ethimo-Folia-LustraFolia is a stool that, if needed, becomes a side table, an outdoor accessory born out of a desire to design a shape to be used either as seating or as a table, to create a practical, versatile piece of furniture that offers simple, fluid, multiple uses, adapting to any situation or setting.

Its name comes from its design, a delicate leaf pattern inspired by traditional iron doors that defines the seat or table top, while the “stalks” form the structure and comprise its base.

Ethimo-Folia-LustraFolia can therefore be designated the role of either a stool or a side table, or, depending on the context, a (small) decorative sculpture to be used as extra seating or a handy additional surface, ideal for a conversation or relaxing corner.

Stackable and available in different colours, Folia is an element with subtle visual impact, yet sturdy safe construction.

Ernestomeda K-Garden https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/05/06/ernestomeda-k-garden/ Sun, 05 May 2024 20:00:41 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=26580 ]]> As seen at this year’s Fuorisalone, this is the stunning new K-Garden from Italian kitchen design company Ernestomeda.

Created by architect Giuseppe Bavuso, the company’s art director, K-Garden has been developed and designed to shape new locations for open-air socialisation, with an increasingly broad, international approach.

Ernestomeda-K-GardenK-Garden is a design intended for those who embrace indoor and outdoor living; to underscore the art of open-air cooking, to rethink and restyle those places where people get together to share relaxation and eating experiences.

Ernestomeda-K-GardenThe new K-Garden collection is an evolution of the K-Lab project, a model with exquisite design and a technical soul which includes equipped work counters that denote an efficient, informal kitchen. In this version K-Garden retains the same characteristics but with the addition of multipurpose workstations comprising hobs, grills, BBQ and everything needed for outdoor cooking.

Ernestomeda-K-GardenThe project’s distinctive features are its high degree of customisation and the exceptional modularity of all its components. K-Garden consists of a series of free-standing open elements which can be combined and aligned to form real fully equipped islands, around which people can share the pleasures of outdoor eating.

Ernestomeda-K-GardenAll materials used in the project have been meticulously chosen not only to deal with the different weather conditions typical of outdoor Ernestomeda-K-Gardenareas but also to maintain perfect empathy with the kitchen’s natural surroundings, such as the use of wood which, suitably treated, gives the kitchen strength as well as an agreeably warm texture, tough, rustproof stainless steel (AISI316), and various kinds of stone, intrinsically in perfect harmony with the open air world.

Ernestomeda-K-GardenThe K-Garden model is grounded in the design philosophy shared by all Giuseppe Bavuso’s collections for Ernestomeda: in his projects, technology and impressive performance are always combined with exquisite, unique details which give kitchens the unmistakable homely warmth typical of a specific approach to design.

Ernestomeda-K-GardenSo K-Garden is not an outdoor product with a cold, impersonal spirit intended merely to provide the kitchen’s technical functions: it is a genuine furnishing system, which generates a mood and bestows personality on its location.

Hettich: Outdoor Kitchen Oasis https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/01/16/hettich-outdoor-kitchen-oasis/ Mon, 15 Jan 2024 19:00:12 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=25477 ]]> Featured on designwithhettich.au, Studio Lux Interiors’ alfresco kitchen project harmoniously extends the indoor kitchen area to the outdoor alfresco, creating an aesthetically cohesive space.

Many outdoor kitchens are designed to fulfill the desire for a tranquil space for entertaining friends and family, seamlessly integrating with the overall design of the home. Interior Designer and founder Annebel Goode of Studio Lux Interiors reached out to the manufacturing supplier and joinery experts at Euro Alfresco for her personal outdoor kitchen project, especially fitting with their known reputation as specialists in quality appliances and outdoor cabinetry. This collaboration resulted in the creation of a stunning alfresco kitchen environment, enhancing the outdoor space for both family and guests.

Hettich-Outdoor-KitchenA key consideration in designing a space that effortlessly transitions from indoor to outdoor was pivotal. Laminex’s ‘Classic Oak’ compact laminate was chosen to harmonise with the interior flooring and design elements of the inside kitchen, extending this aesthetic continuity to the outdoor space. This choice not only ensures a seamless visual flow but also contributes to the natural ambiance, which selection of light oak complements the surrounding white elements.

Euro Alfresco undertook this project with meticulous planning, prioritising the integration of high-quality fixtures and fittings capable of withstanding the unpredictable outdoor climate. Simultaneously, Studio Lux Interiors’ preferences were accommodated throughout every stage of the design process, ensuring the kitchen aligned seamlessly with Head Designer Annebel’s requirements, colour palette, and, most importantly, her distinctive style.

Hettich-Outdoor-KitchenThe focal point when entering the Alfresco space is the 4 Burner Built-In BBQ and Hood from Euro Alfresco. This 4-gas burner unit, perfectly tailored for residential outdoor kitchens was an ideal selection for the Adelaide-based project. While its presence may not immediately catch the eye, a gentle press on the oak laminate panels below the cooker unveils concealed cabinet space housing a convenient Pull-Out bin. The seamless access is facilitated by Hettich’s push-to-open push-rod mechanism and soft-closing hinges, ensuring the secure opening and closing of the cabinetry doors. This discreet design choice eliminates the need for handles, resulting in a cleaner, more minimalist appearance that integrates with the Alfresco environment while also mitigating the risk of erosion.

Hettich-Outdoor-KitchenThe Hettich Bin.it Duo II Pull-Out bins contribute to the kitchen’s discreetness by concealing various waste items behind closed cabinetry door. The bins can be effortlessly pulled out to full extension whenever needed, showcasing their functionality and versatility. The inclusion of the bin is a perfect fit for Studio Lux Interiors’ Dream Alfresco Kitchen, especially as it is part of Hettich’s Alfresco Kitchen Collection, one of many products specifically recommended for outdoor use.

Naturally, a complete kitchen space includes essential elements like the sink and a beverage cooler. Positioned on the left, the beverage cooler serves as a dedicated storage unit for cooling beer, wine, and other beverages, creating an ideal pairing with the BBQ cooking experience. Moreover, the space extends with the inclusion of the swimming pool and the expanses of lush grass beyond the Alfresco space which is why it can rightfully be deemed an Outdoor Oasis by and for Studio Lux Interiors.

Phil outdoor kitchen by Ethimo https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2023/06/22/phil-outdoor-kitchen-by-ethimo/ Wed, 21 Jun 2023 20:00:09 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=23598 ]]> Designed in collaboration with Gordon Guillaumier, this is Phil the new outdoor kitchen from Italian company Ethimo.

Ethimo’s focus has always been on the creation of comfortable, open-air spaces that set the trend for quality outdoor living, utilising the creative spirit for which the company is known. The goal is to simplify the art of outdoor cooking, without compromising on aesthetics or functionality.

Phil-Outdoor kitchenPhil is the design challenge met by Ethimo and Gordon Guillaumier that has seen the development of an unconventional design, thanks to its special ‘nomadic’ configuration which creates an original way to arrange and outdoor cooking environment. With an elegant, yet informal look, Phil is the essence of contemporary cooking with a relaxed environment with a high degree of individualisation and personalisation.

Whether located on a portico, patio, terrace, poolside or city balcony, this unusual element makes any setting, however small, easy to use and allows the kitchen area to be managed simply, functionally and quickly. Thanks to its sizes and technical features, Phil squeezes all the main kitchen activities into a compact ergonomic space, ensuring maximum functionality.

Constructively, Phil is stable and sturdy, and able to withstand weather and other elements, but it is made suitable for the home thanks to its “soft” and unconventional design.

95 cm in height and 75 cm in diameter, Phil is made up of a single cylindrical base in metal and is available in Olive Green and Sepia Black. With refined teak details, it comes in three possible configurations: with sink, induction hob and barbecue. These ‘round islands’ can co-exist with their different functions, creating circular movement and activities, or be used on their own.

Phil-Outdoor kitchenThe sink, complete with a handy work surface/top in teak, is fitted with fixed feet, while the two cooking options have cables and are also available on wheels, meaning they can easily be moved to where they are needed, emphasising the dynamic versatile character of this project.

With Phil, Ethimo and Gordon Guillaumier provide a new kitchen experience, creating a concept that is the perfect balance of freedom and formality, able to adapt to settings of different sizes and uses and the natural choice for completing open-air spaces.

Lapitec, the sintered stone for outdoor environments https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2023/06/13/lapitec-the-sintered-stone-for-outdoor-environments/ Mon, 12 Jun 2023 20:00:04 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=23193 ]]> Lapitec is perfect for a series of outside uses, including paving and walkways, facades or portions of them, swimming pool cladding, benches, table tops, fixed or mobile kitchens, barbecue stations, and even for applications on yachts or ship decks.

The large size slabs, which in 12 and 20 mm thicknesses are 1540 x 3440 mm, allow great flexibility of use, thanks also to the material’s high performance.

The sintered stone is indeed resistant to atmospheric conditions, UV rays, temperature changes and abrasions, so much so that the product comes with a 25-year durability guarantee. It’s entirely silica-free composition, the result of a mixture of 100% natural minerals compacted through a multi-patented process, makes it an ecological material that is non-porous on the surface and therefore ideal for prolonged contact with water, even salty or with chlorine added.

Lapitec comes in a range of solid colours, from Bianco Assoluto, creams, greys, warm colours and blacks to the elegant veins of the Musa collection. With new colours launched in 2023, it is a surface that integrates perfectly with the outdoor environment, while the available finishes can reach the high coefficients of friction (even R13) that are indispensable, especially for flooring and swimming pools.

There are therefore many uses in the world of design and outdoor furniture, where Lapitec works alongside important brands in the sector to supply tops for dining tables or cooking stations with different types of accessories and functions.

In addition to the above features, there is the ‘full body’ characteristic of sintered stone, which is identical in every point and maintains a constant appearance when milled or processed, ensuring maximum aesthetic cleanliness, together with functionality and high technical performance.
