Located in a elegant, listed building in the city’s West End, the showroom has undergone a stunning makeover. One of three showrooms owned by the Italian brand (the others are located in Milan and New York), the new layout reflects Salvatori’s signature Italian flair.

Salvatori-London-ShowroomAn effortless combination of technological innovation with high-quality craftsmanship, the showroom showcases the innovative textures, sculptural bathroom furnishings and contemporary furniture, predominantly made from natural stone and designed by some of the world’s most renowned names in design and architecture.

This space offers clients and designers privileged access to Salvatori’s designs and personalised services, allowing visitors to experience the extraordinary tactile nature of the brand’s products at first hand. Along with Milan and New York, the London showroom represents another significant step in Salvatori’s global growth.

Salvatori-London-ShowroomThe longstanding relationship between Salvatori and Piero Lissoni, a leading figure in the design industry, is marked by deep creative synergy and a shared admiration for craftsmanship and the pursuit of beauty.

“The Salvatori showroom is already a classic destination in London so the redesign is about reflecting its position as a market leader,” says Piero Lissoni. “The reimage maintains its subtle and – paradoxically – Italian understatement that adapts to English style while preserving the strength, power and beauty of its creations.”

The two-storey, 200-square-metre showroom is home to a series of elegant and inspiring sets featuring the brand’s exclusive textures, furniture and accessories, with a focus on its customisable bathroom collections.

Salvatori-London-ShowroomThe ground floor, spanning 50 square metres, has undergone a complete architectural transformation. Visitors are welcomed by a wall clad in iconic Italian Bianco Carrara marble in the popular Tratti finish which showcases Salvatori’s expertise and heritage in developing innovative, contemporary textures.

Two new walls and a raised floor section create a setting for a revolutionary synergy. On one side is The Small Hours in elegant green Verde Antico marble. Patricia Urquiola’s first bathroom collection for Salvatori was presented during Milan Design Week 2024 and now makes its international debut in London. With thoughtful attention to functionality and colour, The Small Hours captures the atmosphere of dawn, with each piece designed to make the bathroom a place of intimate retreat and reflection in those precious moments before the world awakens.

Salvatori-London-ShowroomOn the other side is Hito in Bianco Carrara, a bathroom collection with minimalist lines and pure volumes designed by Piero Lissoni in 2023. Like The Small Hours, Hito is highly customisable and adaptable to each individual’s needs, capturing the essence of “person,” as reflected in its Japanese-derived name 人.

Salvatori-London-ShowroomA third display showcases the Anima bathtub, designed by New York firm Yabu Pushelberg, here in Silk Georgette® limestone, along with a wall in Patchwork in the same material. Designed by Piero Lissoni, Patchwork is a perfect example of the power of ingenious design and sustainability. Based on a “zero waste” philosophy, production offcuts are repurposed as tiles that can be arranged by designers and clients to create their very own “patchwork” wall, ensuring truly unique designs that don’t come at the cost of the environment.

Salvatori-London-ShowroomThe basement level is a hybrid environment that blends inspiring showroom displays with a practical workspace where architects, interior designers and clients can experiment with textures and benefit from personalised consultations with the Salvatori team.

The décor features pale tones such as Bianco Carrara, Crema d’Orcia, and Placido Paradiso, providing an elegant backdrop for the enticing displays which include the Punto and Anima bathroom collections by Yabu Pushelberg and the Adda family of modular drawers. Patricia Urquiola’s fresh, original aesthetic is found here as well, with The Small Hours collection this time in Placido Paradiso marble and Coffee Oak.

The Nover Story https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/09/19/the-nover-story/ Wed, 18 Sep 2024 20:00:17 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=28280 ]]> Nover is one of Australia’s largest family-owned and operated businesses, today supplying the cabinet making and joinery industries with more than 25,000 products across 17 different categories.

Established in 1954 originally as a civil engineering business by Norm Overmeyer and Ken Cowley. The company name “Nover” is an amalgamation of Norm’s first and last names. Nover was heavily involved in construction through the 1960s with the partners renovating and refurbishing a number of blocks of flats throughout Sydney as well as one-off construction projects such as the Visitors Stand at Drummoyne pool. This soon led to Nover establishing a joinery business which was used to supply cabinetry to the construction arm of the company.

Norm sold his share of the business in the late 1960s and Ken took over as the sole owner.

Nover-70-yearsKen’s background was in the wool industry, having spent many years working for a firm of wool brokers. As is the case today, products are not sold directly but through an established trading house. When his contacts in these trading houses learnt of his association with the building industry, Ken was offered the opportunity to take supply of and resell a number of building products. Initially this was a hodgepodge of items (even including items such as tyres and air hoses) but gradually this broadened to include a general range of building products.

“The joinery industry was very different in those days,” explains Steve Cowley, son of Ken, and now Managing Director of Nover. “There was no real cabinet hardware to speak of, for example, and all the cabinets were timber framed”.

Nover-70-yearsSoon Nover began to import High Pressure Laminate and this range of products soon expanded to become the backbone of the business for the next 40 years. “As the industry changed over time, Nover grew its product lines and became more of a wholesaler specialising in joinery products,” adds Steve.

By the early 1980s the wholesaling side of the business had taken priority so the family made a decision to exit the joinery business which was sold to a third party. This happened soon after Steve joined the business in 1976 and he and Ken set about specialising in the cabinet making and joinery industries.

“I had a background in accounting so, when I first started, I was working in what you’d call the accounts department,” says Steve. “But I quickly realised that wasn’t for me so I made a sidestep into product management and sales which was a much better fit”.

Of course, the cabinet making and joinery industry was very different at the time Steve joined the company. “It was a far simpler industry in those days,” he recalls. “This was even before metal runners were the norm – it was all plastic components. And manufacturing was a very different ball game”.

The-Nover-Story
The Nover showroom and headquarters in Eastern Creek, Sydney

Being such a specialist in this area, Nover was often leading the way and an early adopter of new products and new technologies. Its business has always been based on sitting across a variety of product families and very much driven by what joiners wanted and needed in their factories. “We sit across most sectors of the industry and our product range is the broadest of any supplier in the industry,” says Steve. “We have a plan but we’ve also allowed for organic growth that is driven by the industry and the feedback we receive from customers”.

As a market leader, Nover saw an opportunity for the supply of hardware and panels as well as consumables and ancillary products such as handles. But the product range has always included a variety of wood-based panel products including decorative surfaces and low-pressure melamine, plus a decent selection of hardware which has expanded as new technology and expectations from the design community required.

“Our customer base is extremely broad,” Steve explains. “It’s made up of kitchen manufacturers, cabinet makers, furniture manufacturers, shop fitters, joiners and fit out companies so our goal is to stock and sell all the major components needed across this diverse customer base”.

As a business, Nover invests heavily in sourcing its products preferring to establish exclusive relationships where possible. Steve says Nover seeks to source products that match the philosophy of the business, and have the quality required for our Australian market, which they are able to sell at a price that matches the expectations of its customers. “We make sure we have a presence at international design shows and hardware shows, and we travel to visit factories as these all form an essential part of our research and staying in touch with new developments,” says Steve.

Having been in the industry for so many years, Steve has seen first-hand how much it has changed with the advent of technology and new manufacturing methods. “The biggest change I’ve noticed is that joinery businesses used to make everything – doors, benchtops, carcasses, the lot. As we moved away from laminate benchtops we’ve needed to work with specialist stonemasons and then specialist door painters, and glass splashbacks. So, now joinery businesses have to interact with so many more third parties to complete projects,” he explains.

The-Nover-StoryWhen asked to predict the future of the cabinet making industry, Steve points to more specialisation requiring a narrower skill set as we compartmentalise the industry further and further. But, overall he sees the size of the industry growing, as will the size of projects being undertaken.

In terms of Nover’s plans for the future, Steve says the company intends to remain at the forefront of sourcing new products and supporting those products already in the family. “Whenever we have the opportunity of course we will try to be first,” Steve laughs. “But those opportunities don’t come along too often. Any vacuum left when a new product comes onto the market is very quickly filled and so our product range will evolve as it has to”.

Steve points to the introduction of two new product families which he feels rounds out Nover’s offering to the industry. The company has recently secured an arrangement with Salice for its hardware and ColourPyne for its range of board products. The company is well established with branches across the three eastern states of Australia and intends to remain 100% family owned.

When asked what he thinks makes Nover unique in this crowded part of the market Steve is quick to point to its employees. “Our philosophy is that our people are so important,” he says. “We employ well over 100 people in ten different locations and the average length of service is eight years – with some at up to ten or even 20 years”.

We’re excited to see what the future will bring for the Nover company, the Cowley family and the company’s employees so watch this space!

Ceramica Sant’Agostino new Milan showroom https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/01/22/ceramica-santagostino-new-milan-showroom/ Sun, 21 Jan 2024 19:00:15 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=25548 ]]> Check out the newly-opened Milan showroom of Ceramica Sant’Agostino, located in the heart of the Brera Design District on Corso Garibaldi.

The company’s latest and most iconic collections are displayed in large panels inside a space that is spread over two levels but is treated as a single “architectural box”, designed by the Calvi Brambilla studio.

Ceramica Sant'AgostinoThe location was carefully chosen, in such a strategic location, to underscore the company’s commitment to maintaining its position as one of the leading Italian players in the ceramic sector. Founded almost sixty years ago, today Ceramica Sant’Agostino continues its path in the pursuit of creativity on the Italian and international design scene.

Taking inspiration from Franco Albini’s design for Line1 of the Milan subway, the graphic sign of the red handrail has been reinterpreted in Calvi Brambilla’s design. Not one, but two horizontal lines, architecturally rendered with dark titanium finish tubes, become the hanging supports for the display panels of Ceramica Sant’Agostino’s collection.

Ceramica Sant'AgostinoThe result is pure visual effect with the parallel tubes running along the entire perimeter of the showroom ground floor and, from a functional point of view, enabling a very flexible display of the product: the tubes, in fact, allow for a variable modularity of the panels, adaptable to different sizes, but also adjustable in number depending on the presentation that one wants to display. The frames supporting the product can decrease or increase as in an evocative museum system.

Large display frames were designed to hold both slabs with a single finish as well as tile compositions in smaller formats to best showcase the solutions that the ceramic product can offer within different architectural solutions.

Ceramica Sant'AgostinoIn the centre of the exhibiting floor, adjacent to the system of tubulars and wall frames, three “totems” take pride of place. These are compositions of different volumes and collections, covered in porcelain stoneware and enhanced with other materials such as lacquer and glass, which combine to create real three-dimensional mood boards.

The lower floor, designed as a more operational area, houses the material library, organised on a fabric wall system displaying the entire catalogue, and two large tables to explore samples and create pairings.

Architects, designers, planners, those lovers and curious about ceramic products will be able to enter this exhibition venue not only to view Ceramica Sant’Agostino products, search for the best solutions for their projects and receive advice and technical assistance, but also at exhibitions and events dedicated to architecture, which will make it a culturally vibrant meeting point throughout the year.

Spiggy Brisbane Showroom https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2023/05/03/spiggy-brisbane-showroom/ Tue, 02 May 2023 20:00:35 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=23191 ]]> The Spiggy Brisbane showroom has been entered into the Australian Institute of Architecture Awards – Small Project Architecture Category, for 2023. The awards include a People’s Choice award so click here to add your vote!

Designed by Alcorn Middleton, the showroom features the Brisbane-based architectural firm’s renowned “hide and reveal” concept which is a perfect fit for the Spiggy showroom.

Spiggy-ShowroomThe brief tasked the architects with taking a different approach to this design and challenged them to give the showroom the look and feel of a jewellery store. “Our products are like jewellery for doors, so I was keen to ensure they were elevated accordingly,” explains Colin Wright, founder of Spiggy. “Handles are handled, so it was also important for the products could be held, used, and inspected, rather than just hung on walls or display boards”.

Spiggy-ShowroomIn a space just 30sqm, the architects have created a sophisticated scene that is a world away from the traditional hardware retail outlet. A layered approach was utilised to assist patrons to navigate the product offering, with various collections of handles revealed behind individual doors.

Spiggy-ShowroomThese working doors feature different mortice and hinge configurations which allows visitors to view the workings of the product to make an informed decision for their project. Each door features authentically-designed products from some of the world’s most highly regarded designers and manufacturers.

Spiggy-ShowroomSpecially-designed plinths sit in alcoves and feature highlighted products which are changed frequently, further reinforcing the idea of each piece as a work of art. Lighting from one of their brands, Buster + Punch, is used to great effect to highlight each piece.

Spiggy-ShowroomThe main island is a tiered, multi-purpose unit which showcases the sculptural collection of handles from Philip Watts Design but is also the perfect place for additional seating for events or when architectural presentations are held. Within the island, a number of drawers open to reveal a collection of joinery handles as well as smaller drawers for the mortices, hinges, door stops and other accessories.

Spiggy-ShowroomFurthering the concept of a jewellery store, the idea is that the accessories are chosen and matched to the preferred handle collection to ensure all colours and finishes are considered as a cohesive whole.

The Spiggy Brisbane showroom is open for visitors and a new Sydney showroom is planned to be open soon. In addition, a new website is being designed and will be live shortly.

Antolini StoneroomThe Antolini Stoneroom is located between Piazza Fontana and Via San Clemente, a historic crossroads in the city center, where eight display windows catch the eye, stimulating curiosity and capturing the gaze to lure passers-by into an emotional, timeless journey that builds and expands upon entrance.

Antolini StoneroomArchitectural elements, layouts, displays and an effective retail concept reflect Antolini’s leadership in best practices, both in Italy and worldwide: the use of innovative and sustainable industrial processes, research and development of avant-garde technologies, including many patents, fine craftsmanship, a tradition of selection and crafting of natural stones, and the ongoing pursuit of beauty.

The distinctive value that embodies the vast selection of Antolini stones and positions the brand on the front lines of retail concepts in the sector consists of an extraordinarily exclusive and complete range of samples, both in terms of numbers and of types of materials.

Antolini StoneroomVisitors to the Antolini Stoneroom can admire stones from the Exclusive Collection, Textures+, the Natura Collection, the Precioustone, Gemstone, Shellstone, Perception and Couture series.

The spectacular styling of the location incorporates various areas of the décor sector: residences, offices, hospitality and retail, natural stone interpreted as wall facings, surfaces and floors, islands, furnishing complements, as well as items like shelving, desks and tables.

Molteni Museum https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2021/12/09/molteni-museum/ Wed, 08 Dec 2021 22:43:38 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=20348 ]]> The new Molteni Museum has been unveiled within a Glass Cube space located in the industrial compound at the company’s headquarters, revamped by Ron Gilad.

The space showcases the company’s achievements products, prototypes, stories and images – as well as its identity and its values, by telling extraordinary stories of the men and women that have invented, produced and built objects, work and social relationships.

Molteni Museum

The Museum hosts a permanent collection of approximately 50 iconic products and original prototypes belonging to the Group’s companies: Molteni&C, Dada, UniFor and Citterio, as well as an area destined to host temporary exhibitions and special initiatives. But it also tells the story of an Italian enterprise, founded in 1934 by Angelo and Giuseppina Molteni, which developed from the 1950s with the cooperation of Italian and international architects and designers, such as Luca Meda, Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Aldo Rossi, Werner Blaser, Richard Sapper, Foster + Partners, Jean Nouvel, lvaro Siza, Pierluigi Cerri, Michele De Lucchi, Hannes Wettstein, Rodolfo Dordoni, Dante Bonuccelli, Patricia Urquiola, Ron Gilad, Ferruccio Laviani, Michael Anastassiades and Vincent Van Duysen, right through to the re-edition of a collection of furnishings designed by Gio Ponti between 1935 and 1970.

Molteni Museum

The permanent Collection is still the nucleus of the project, re-arranged and reorganised by Ron Gilad according to new criteria. It is flanked by special initiatives, thanks to the flexibility of the spaces, such as temporary exhibitions ranging from architecture to photography and art, with the creation of a programme of events linked to the Museum.

Molteni Museum

Along with the Museum, the Giussano Compound itself is also having a make-over. The QallaM (Quality to the power of M) Space, designed by Patricia Urquiola, is being renovated as a multimedia space offering a broad catalogue of films and videos about the designers and architects, as well as the technologies involved in our Molteni’s for perfect quality. It is to become a knowledge hub, and will host, among others, theme workshops, conferences and presentations. QallaM has received a number of awards, including the Premio dell’Innovazione della Presidenza della Repubblica and the Menzione d’Onore del Compasso d’Oro.

The historical Archive also plays a key part in the Group’s cultural strategy, as a point of reference for conserving and promoting business culture.

The history of the Company and of its key players is entrusted to iconographic materials, products and machinery, as well as technical, administrative and commercial documents. Material evidence that can be considered cultural assets, the expression of the company’s ethical and aesthetic values and of its capacity for innovation handed down from past to present.

II Bosco Artedomus Brisbane Showroom https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2020/04/03/ii-bosco-artedomus-brisbane-showroom/ Thu, 02 Apr 2020 19:00:45 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=17557 ]]> Introducing the II Bosco Artedomus Brisbane Showroom, designed by Thomas Coward and Hana Hakim from The Stella Collective.

Artedomus Brisbane ShowroomThe Artedomus Brisbane showroom is a surreal and sensual tropical haven inspired by the glamour and euphoria of 1980s Miami. The showroom is a breath of fresh tropical air, showcasing Artedomus products in an aspirational and interactive environment. Hakim and Coward looked to the bygone era of Miami and the famous Fontainebleau and Eden Rock hotels to create a unique and powerful narrative for Artedomus’ Brisbane showroom. This is the third Artedomus showroom the pair have designed (following Sydney and Melbourne), and they wanted to cultivate a new aesthetic suited to Brisbane’s subtropical climate.

Artedomus Brisbane ShowroomThe 300-square-metre showroom is located in a large warehouse in Fortitude Valley where its high ceilings and natural light provide the perfect backdrop for showcasing the beauty of Artedomus stone, tiles, architectural surfaces, bathware and furniture. Coward and Hakim conceptualised the customer experience as an inspirational and interactive journey from the reception, through the showroom and into the library.

Artedomus Brisbane ShowroomCustomers enter via a garden into the dream-like reception where a dramatic marble desk has classical-inspired carving and soft 6-meter-high curtains billow around it. Colonnades of white screens define spaces throughout the showroom, while plantation shutters and ceiling fans evoke familiar scenes of Miami from the past. Curved catwalks, crystal chandeliers and marble-clad columns reference the iconic work of architects Morris Lapidus and Sir Terence Conran, and Artedomus materials are integrated throughout the displays in timeless, neutral colours and soft pink and deep desert hues.

Artedomus Brisbane ShowroomThe products are presented in context, such as bathroom settings and living spaces. An outdoor apartment, like a tropical abode, features a kitchen, dining area and bathroom to showcase Artedomus’ exclusive finishes, furniture and products. This includes its New Volumes™ Collection 01 and Agape bathware, as well as custom-designed interchangeable screens and plinths that allow clients to experiment with stones and tiles.

Artedomus Brisbane ShowroomA hotel-bedroom-style lounge has beautiful Cotto Manetti terracotta flooring, along with stunning furniture from Cult. The customer journey concludes in the selection library at the showroom. It accommodates Artedomus’ extensive range of tiles, mosaics and architectural ceramics, and is a meeting place for designers and clients.

Efeian says, “Our values, unchanged since 1683, with an ongoing quest for authenticity and uncompromising quality are now part of the DNA of this building here in South Melbourne. Our wish is for each and every one of our customers to experience the craftsmanship, precision and quality of the leading luxury brand of home appliances in the world at every touch point along the journey. Hacker Kitchens_ShowroomThe exhibition spaces have been completely remodelled from scratch. Hacker Kitchens will be welcoming visitors to its in-house showroom with the motto “Welcome Home”, and will once again present numerous innovations this year. Communication and inspiration spaces seamlessly flow into open-plan kitchen settings – visitors are carried off to a completely new world of kitchen experiences that appeal to all senses.

The two product ranges classic/classicART and systemat/systematART impress with new front and worktop designs and numerous extra features. The company’s own brand built-in Blaupunkt appliances add even more excitement with innovative features and a range that is now even wider and will be available in even more countries in future. Grass opens its new showroom https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2016/11/08/grass-opens-its-new-showroom/ Mon, 07 Nov 2016 19:00:46 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=9635 ]]> Introducing a space for inspiration as Grass opens its new showroom in Pordenone, Italy to coincide with SICAM. At the evening reception, almost 200 guests immersed themselves in the world of movement systems from GRASS. The new showroom gives visitors plenty of freedom for their own ideas while providing a wealth of inspiration.

Grass opens its new showroomThe concept from project and interior designer Thomas Petschnig is based on a precise adaptation of the values the company stands for: elegance, straightforwardness and quality.

Grass opens its new showroomThe opening was planned to take advantage of the many suppliers to the furniture industry from all over the world who gathered in Pordenone for SICAM. Besides giving furniture manufacturers an overview of the latest developments and innovations, the fair also gives the industry an opportunity to showcase its achievements.

Official opening (from left to right: Emanuele Loperfido, member of Por-denone city council; Christoph Walter, CEO of GRASS; Marco Müller, director of GRASS Italy)

GRASS used the occasion to present its new showroom to journalists, partners, customers, future customers and staff. Guests experienced the special concept that Thomas Petschnig developed for the new showroom: with its green, elongated elements, the entrance guides visitors into the world of GRASS and opens up into an impressive space interrupted only by two circles of light – the centrepiece of the lighting concept. This simple elegance, coupled with the straightforward presentation of the products, creates an experience that aptly translates both the GRASS brand and the characteristics of its product portfolio into architecture. “Every structure is a message that stands in context with people and their attitude,” says Thomas Petschnig of his design approach. “That’s why it was important to incorporate the high standards of the GRASS brand in the interior concept.”

With its new showroom, GRASS aims to strengthen its commitment to the important Italian market. The space-within-a-space concept permits a year-round product show where Italian companies can experience the benefits of the GRASS product lines for themselves. If the opening evening is anything to go by, the venture looks sets to be a success: the 115-square-metre showroom hosted a gathering of people from all over the world who feel connected through the GRASS brand – including numerous furniture manufacturers that GRASS already supplies with its movement systems: the guest list included names from Valcucine, Stosa and Toncelli all the way to manufacturers and long-standing partner companies from Germany.

Grass opens its new showroom“The evening exceeded our expectations and shows that our products meet with a great deal of interest in Italy,” says Marco Müller, director of GRASS Italy. “Furniture making here traditionally has a strong affinity with design, and our products provide the flexibility to implement sophisticated solutions that reflect the quality of the furniture on the inside as well. We’re confident that the unique new showroom will help us continue to expand our business in Italy.”

Vauth-Sagel showroomThese days, a company needs to do more than just supply the right, top quality products at a reasonable price to be successful. It has to be visionary. In consequence, Vauth-Sagel is gradually making the transition from supplier to development partner and source of inspiration. In keeping with the “universal design” approach, the company will in future create high quality system solutions for everyone and for a wide range of different home scenarios. The new showroom expresses this perfectly and offers space for the respectively necessary regular dialogues with furniture manufacturers, designers, journalists and end customers.

Vauth-Sagel showroom
“Urban”

The focus is not on the products but on the wide range of solutions they offer. Four unique, striking buildings cover an impressive 600 square metres of ground. Grouped closely together, they stand for a global village that takes the current home-furnishing megatrends on board: “Urban” looks at the long-term trend towards living in cities: an increasing number of people is occupying living spaces that are gradually becoming smaller and smaller in constantly growing major cities.

Vauth-Sagel showroom
“Family”

Family” addresses the issue of universal design. Comfortable cross-generational solutions for anyone in the colourful world of family.

Vauth-Sagel showroom
“Country”

The theme world “Country” focuses on yet another megatrend, “Responsibility”. Many people are designing their lives and their immediate environments in a sustainable way that impacts as little as possible on the natural resources.

Vauth-Sagel showroom
Belle Epoque

The foyer of the fourth building, “Belle Epoque”, already clearly indicates that here, the way a home is furnished is also considered a status symbol. The furniture stands for a luxurious home with sophisticated materials and outstanding functional features.

Vauth-Sagel sees this part of the new showroom as a prototype for future living spaces. And nothing is set in stone here, which is usually the case when it comes to prototypes. Solutions for additional home zones are already being considered and will at some point be realised in consultation with the visitors and guests. The new exhibition area offers plenty of different opportunities for this, for example meeting, presentation and development spaces where these new jointly developed space solutions can be realised.

The first of its kind globally from Hansgrohe, the ‘Test Rig’ allows measurement and comparison of different products’ flow rates using sensors.

Visitors to The Water Studio can become acquainted with Hansgrohe’s unique interactive online tool, iSpecify, which is accessible through screens within the space. Designed to make specifying as simple and user-friendly as possible, iSpecify provides inspiration with a growing library of global reference projects and can highlight exact product details to generate a Hansgrohe or Axor specification.

The Water Studio_HansgroheFor meetings, a large open design table faces out to the bustling Clerkenwell Road where customers: professional specifier, retailer or end consumer can discuss their project requirements over coffee.

The Water Studio_HansgroheWater is evident throughout the studio in more abstract, artistic expressions, such as the central ‘cascade’ feature. Here, working showerheads and mixers are set against the backdrop of a 4D-mapped ‘digital waterfall’ animated artwork, inspired by the power of water harnessed and engineered by Hansgrohe. Further artistic water-statements are the window display which features billowing fabric evocative of water flowing from an Axor Starck V mixer tap and the Axor WaterDream installation sculpture (by Front) hangs above the staircase.

The Water Studio_HansgroheDesigned by international Experiential Design Agency, I-AM, The Water Studio’s strategic location will serve as a project base for professionals specifying bathrooms both in the UK and overseas.

Cesar Flagship Store Cannes https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2016/01/21/cesar-flagship-store-cannes/ Wed, 20 Jan 2016 19:00:24 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=7780 ]]> Cesar Flagship Store Cannes_7Italian kitchen design specialist Cesar announces its new Cesar Flagship Store Cannes. From a tiny fishing village to a hugely-popular seaside resort and cultural hotspot that is famous throughout the world: the history of Cannes is truly unique, and revolves around passions
and fortunate encounters, just as in all the greatest love stories.

Cesar Flagship Store Cannes_1In rue de Constantine, in the very heart of a quartier dedicated to design and the art of living,
Cesar’s new single-brand store will present the Cannois with three brand-new versions of Maxima 2.2, an innovative, versatile and creative kitchen designed for the highest level of customization – the latest design system by Cesar.

Cesar Flagship Store Cannes_4On display is a version featuring a central island with matching base cabinets and column units in silk-effect clay-coloured lacquer and light cereal-coloured oak. A second composition on show in the store is in a more modern style which blends new materials such as the innovative Fenix laminate in lead grey of the doors and columns and the hot-rolled steel of the work top with the natural warmth of antique-effect spruce.

Cesar Flagship Store Cannes_3The last of the three kitchens features wall-mounted cabinets with doors in snow-white Laminam ceramic which blends perfectly with natural oak. The styling and lines of the brand are reflected and underlined by a project which expresses Cesar’s “Material Culture”: the store, which covers a floor area of 120 m2, has been left in its original state, and blends to perfection with the dove grey of the walls, the composition and the finishes of the kitchens on display.

Cesar Flagship Store Cannes_6This store now joins the single-brand stores already operating in Paris, Milan and Genoa, as part of a strategic extension of the company’s sales network and in order to grow the brand internationally.

To that end, the old 600sqm showroom was completely rebuilt and expanded to now encompass a 2.300sqm space that displays a huge range of products from the company’s catalogue within evocative and elegant surroundings.

The company describes the new showroom as “a scenic path between living solutions and lifestyles, a conceptual space to tell about the soul and essence of antoniolupi”. Visitors can enjoy the tranquility of the internal courtyard which presents a garden rich of evergreens and olive trees. In the center of this courtyard is the Vascabarca a sculpture by the two French artist Anne and Patrick Poirier made entirely of Stone Grey.

English Tapware showroom_4English Tapware is known for its impeccable taste in bathware – as well as beautiful showrooms. The latest addition to the English Tapware brand is a new retail space situated on High Street, Armadale.

English Tapware showroom_3A testament to English Tapware’s love for refinement and detailing in design, this new showroom space is the result of a collaboration between Hecker Guthrie’s Hamish Guthrie and English Tapware’s Stephan Marshall. Inspired by ‘English Modern’, Guthrie with Marshall have imbued the space with a classic ‘Elle Décor UK’ style.

English Tapware showroom_7White wooden window frames soar four metres to the ceiling, dividing the area and lending a sense of strength and permanence to the space. A luxurious washed oak floor draws the visitor into the space and cleverly integrates a series of product displays into a single holistic customer journey.

English Tapware showroom_2Flooding the showroom with natural light are six domed skylights. These also wash the showroom in a dappled interplay of shadow and light as clouds pass over. Enhancing the ambient lighting are tailored pendants by David Moreland, providing drops of colour throughout.

English Tapware showroom_8Contained within the space are a series of display units, each carefully considered to offer the customer a unique product experience. Signature Hecker Guthrie steel frames, powder coated white, enclose custom joinery which is fitted with striking handles from English Tapware’s cabinet range.

English Tapware showroom_10Carrara marble benchtops and tiles complete the ‘English Modern’ look and feel, while also highlighting the stunning fittings and allowing the product to be the hero.
Tongue and groove paneling on the walls in ‘Napa’ grey lends a soft residential air to the space, further enhanced by beautiful Russell Pinch furniture pieces, sourced all the way from London.

Antonio Lupi – restyled Milan showroom https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2015/06/23/antonio-lupi-restyled-milan-showroom/ Mon, 22 Jun 2015 20:00:51 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=5557 ]]>
Antonio Lupi – renowned worldwide for its stunning bathroom products – has revamped its Milan showroom, originally opened in 2008. As the company’s flagship store, it has become a hub for architects, interior designers and professionals. While the display is renewed each year, during the recent Salone del Mobile, the showroom was completely restyled with new products and a new layout.

With 300 square meters located in hearth of Brera design district, the showroom is offering an complete overview of collections and new products.

immagine_20150525161715_lrVery bright, with 8 large windows on the street level, this location is designed to emphasize the “will of convergence”, to leave the visitors free to interact with the entire room. The company says this is intended to blur the exhibition function and allow visitors to become directed towards a “scenographic-aggregative space” in which the micro environments challenge the traditional concept of a showroom and, rather, appear as suggestions or proposals that create a space which is focused on the exchange of ideas and knowledge.

The space is simply stunning, so I’ll keep this short and leave you with a visual tour. If you are in Milan next year for iSalone, I highly recommend a visit. The address is: Via Porta Tenaglia, 20121 Milano. T.+39 02 63 47 06 19

Kartell by Laufen – store now open in Milan https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2015/06/18/kartell-by-laufen-store-now-open-in-milan/ Wed, 17 Jun 2015 20:00:00 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=5479 ]]>
Kartell by Laufen’s collection was first launched at ISH Frankfurt two years ago to worldwide acclaim. The collection was recognised by some of the sector’s most eminent opinion leaders including Wallpaper (Best Wash, Wallpaper Design Awards 2013) and Elle Decoration International (winner EDIDA 2014 prize in the Bathroom category).

The collection went on to be featured at many prominent international events including those in London, Brussels, Prague, Warsaw, New York, Miami, Paris and Pan Paolo, as well as some of the largest design fairs in the world, including Salone del Bagno 2014 and ISH Frankfurt 2015.

Kartell by Laufen Milano Store 19©ph.Franco Chimenti_lrWith a design and concept by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba (who also designed the Kartell by Laufen collection), the Milan store is in the heart of the Brera district, at Via Pontaccio 10. The brand is featured in more than 500 high-quality point-of-sale outlets in more than 40 countries worldwide but this new store is the brand’s first monobrand store.

Kartell by Laufen Milano Store 02©ph.Franco Chimenti_lrAt around 200 square metres in size, the store features four windows opening onto the street which play a fundamental role in presenting the collections with their emphasis on glamour and lifestyle. The space encompasses two levels with a fresh, clean ambiance offset by tactile combinations and a large, architectural space which the company designed so as to be quite different to the “usual” bathroom fitting showrooms.

Kartell by Laufen Milano Store 03©ph.Franco Chimenti_lrThe ground floor showcases five different settings, each corresponding to a different bathroom concept with the latest products: the 120 cm basin, the metallic basin units and the Boutique furnishings. A long oblique wall at the entrance presents a working composition of one of Kartell by Laufen’s bathroom proposals.

Kartell by Laufen Milano Store 32©ph.Franco Chimenti_lrThe same wall displays the entire range of basins and the taps, too, have a specifically-dedicated technical area.

Kartell by Laufen Milano Store 30©ph.Franco Chimenti_lrThe lower level offers another seven installations, each very different in terms of dimensions and mood: some with strong colours, like the orange and total black bathrooms, others highly compact to show the great potential that even smaller, guest bathrooms have. There is also a vast range of proposals for the hotels and contract sectors in general.

Winning Appliances goes West https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2014/07/11/winning-appliances-goes-west/ Thu, 10 Jul 2014 20:00:04 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=3644 ]]> Kitchen Headquarters (often referred to as KHQ) was started four years ago in WA by well known entrepreneur and co founder Rick Hart with his partner Nick Kirby. Starting in one store in the “kitchen central” industrial suburb of Osborne Park, Hart and Kirby quickly built the business to three stores in three years – which obviously attracted the attention of east coast appliance giant The Winning Group.

KHQ co-founder Rick Hat
KHQ co-founder Rick Hart

Two weeks ago The Winning Group completed its purchase of KHQ, with founder Rick Hart staying on in an ambassadorial role under contract for the next three years. Speaking to our friends at Appliance Retailer recently, Hart said he wasn’t too fussed with the new owners retaining the name. “I’ve been battered a bit with my brands over recent years so I am bit impervious to that. Kitchen Headquarters has been an exciting experience and to be able to develop a brand such as we have in such a short time – fewer than four years – is quite amazing and I am proud of that.IMG_1977

“I look forward now to taking the business through the next phase of the development.”

With seven stores in New South Wales and two in Queensland, the Winning Group appear to be closing in on their opposition – what’s next? Well Brad Street, National Commercial Manager of Winning Appliances told TKKB at the recent Zip Hydrotap launch at the Sydney Opera House that it seemed they had “quite a bit on their plate at the moment”! And he’s right – everyone you talk to know of the Winning brand and their expansion into WA only increases their market share and possible likelihood of more to come.

Winning Appliances National Commercial Manager, Brad Street
Winning Appliances National Commercial Manager, Brad Street

Started in 1906 selling horse and carriage trade, as well as hardware, the business is now in its fourth generation and growing rapidly. The acquisition of KHQ (itself a terrific success story headed by the legendary Rick Hart) is just another step as they march onwards and upwards – it will be interesting to see what happens next! Power Retail (when discussing this purchase) recently asked “how long will it be before we see a Winning Appliances in Victoria?” – I’m not that game to ask!!!!

Our thanks, as always, to Appliance Retailer – www.applianceretailer.com.au for part of this story.
