ISH 2025 – Bathrooms for all generations https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/12/06/ish-2025-bathrooms-for-all-generations/ https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/12/06/ish-2025-bathrooms-for-all-generations/#respond Thu, 05 Dec 2024 19:00:58 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=29151 ]]> ISH 2025 – to be held from 17-21 March – will focus on prioritising accessible and digital bathrooms that can be used by people of all age groups.

Given the number of people requiring care is only set to increase worldwide, it makes sense to focus on how to ease the pressure on the residential care system and assist anyone who would like to stay in their home to do so with ease and comfort. But it’s not just about the aged or those living with disabilities. Many of the fixtures and fittings that create an accessible bathroom are also beneficial for young families.

ISH-2025-Accessible-BathroomsHeight-adjustable elements or touch-free taps are particularly suitable for children, for example. However, owners and builders do not have to install handrails and seats in the shower from the outset if they are unlikely to be needed for several decades. All they need to do is make provision for future requirements today by, for example, reinforcing the wall where a grab rail is to be installed at a later date. Sufficient space around the shower, washbasin and toilet should also be factored in at the planning stage so these facilities are subsequently accessible for people using a wheelchair or walking frame.

ISH-2025-Accessible-BathroomsDigitalisation and technical aids also make an important contribution to accessibility. For people requiring care and those with physical disabilities, new technologies in the bathroom are not just a gimmick, but a key element in ensuring greater safety and self determination. Sensor-controlled lighting activates the light as soon as someone enters the bathroom, thus minimising the risk of tripping. If a fall does occur, sensors in the floor recognise who has fallen and alert relatives or the emergency services. Voice assistants can also provide support in an emergency. Furthermore, it is possible to integrate measuring devices that transmit health data to carers or relatives. Intelligent mirrors can even remind users to wash, comb their hair, brush their teeth or take their medication.

ISH-2025-Accessible-BathroomsA bathroom that is both accessible and digital is particularly advantageous as we get older. However, this is also part of the problem. When they are 30, people don’t want to think about their likely physical decline 40 to 50 years later. Hence, many of them fail to create the prerequisites for accessible conversions later, for example, LAN/WLAN coverage, basic electrical connections or empty ducts for data cables. Smart bathrooms require both qualified sanitary and HVAC installers and electrical engineering expertise.

ISH in Frankfurt am Main from 17 to 21 March 2025 represents a great opportunity to learn all about the latest developments. In the ‘Solutions for Bathrooms’ section, exhibitors will be showcasing innovations for private bathrooms, spas, pools and wellness facilities as well as (semi-) public and industrial bathrooms, care-sector bathrooms and bathroom installations.

ISH-2025-Accessible-BathroomsNext year’s ISH will be accompanied by a multifaceted, complementary programme of events. One of the highlights will be the first ‘Value of Water Conference’ at the Congress Centre of Messe Frankfurt on 17 and 18 March 2025. At the conference organised by Messe Frankfurt and the Handelsblatt Media Group, experts and decision-makers from the sanitation, real estate and housing sectors, as well as representatives of local authorities and NGOs, will discuss global innovations and best practices in the field of water management and hygiene.

ISH-2025-Accessible-BathroomsInterior design, current trends and future perspectives in the sanitary industry are the focus of the Design Plaza in Hall 3.1. In the immediate vicinity, the ‘Pop up my Bathroom’ trend area will present visionary bathroom concepts as holistic room solutions. Additionally, the special ‘SPAs, Pools & Wellness’ area in Hall 3.1 will offer insights into modern wellness solutions while, one level lower, in Hall 3.0, the ‘Public, Care Sector Bathrooms & Clean Water’ area will spotlight innovative approaches for public bathrooms, care-sector bathrooms and hygienic drinking water supplies.

ISH-2025-Accessible-BathroomsThe latest developments and pioneering ideas combined with ground-breaking design are front and centre of the Design Plus Award by ISH. This prestigious award is given by ISH in cooperation with Stylepark, the magazine for architecture and design, and honours outstanding innovations and sustainable designs in the bathroom, heating and air conditioning sectors. The award ceremony will take place on the first day of the fair and the award-winning products will be on display in a special exhibition throughout the fair.

Salone del Mobile.Milano announces the first Euroluce International Forum https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/12/03/salone-del-mobile-milano-announces-the-first-euroluce-international-forum/ https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/12/03/salone-del-mobile-milano-announces-the-first-euroluce-international-forum/#respond Mon, 02 Dec 2024 19:00:19 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=29109 ]]> The 2025 edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano will herald the launch of the first edition of The Euroluce International Lighting Forum, a global arena for multi-voice discussion on the leading issues in lighting design.

The Forum, to be held 10-11 April 2025, will include two days packed with events, including conferences, round tables and workshops, numerous international guests and a space created ad hoc in the Euroluce exhibition area.

One of the aims of the Forum concept is to offer the design community an increasingly wide-ranging and expanded event rounding off and fully complementing the commercial offering. Light will be the focus of an emotional and cognitive journey, offering visitors an immersive and distinctive experience. Light is addressed not just in terms of its technological potential, but also through a deep and philosophical reflection on its role as an expressive and innovative language.

The Forum will bring together an international panel of creatives, architects, designers, scientists and lighting industry professionals, to discuss highly relevant topics. The first names to be confirmed include DRIFT, specialising in sculptures, installations and experiential performances that underline the parallels between artificial and natural structures, A.J. Weissbard, a lighting designer and multifaceted artist of international renown; and Marjan van Aubel, a leader in the field of solar design for a sustainable, innovative and mindful future.

“Following the first transformation of Euroluce that we set in motion at the previous edition, rethinking the exhibition layout, we are proud to present another important innovation, this time concerning the content of the exhibition. Light is, incontrovertibly, an increasingly integral part of our lives. As a place where ideas and visions that lead to dialogue intersect, laying fertile ground for innovation, the Forum reflects the DNA of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, which has always been a generator and bearer of new ideas and formats for tackling contemporary challenges” – Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile

A structured programme will provide an opportunity to dig deep into key issues such as the interaction between light and architecture and light and wellbeing, through an integrated and multidisciplinary design approach. The central role of light in integrated and sustainable design for public and private spaces, with quality of life and the future of our planet at its heart will be explored.

“Light not only makes things appear, it also creates atmospheres, depths and perceptions capable of interpreting architectures and open spaces, as in a pentagram. The role of the designer is increasingly similar to that of the conductor of an orchestra, who does not just execute a score, but gives a personal interpretation of it. It is with this sort of strategic role within the industry in mind that FederlegnoArredo’s Assoluce felt it was time to set up a dedicated international forum. I would therefore like to thank the Salone del Mobile.Milano for deciding to give shape to this idea with The Euroluce International Lighting Forum, confirming, once again, that our trade fair is not just the world’s leading design and furniture sector event but, uniquely in the world, is the home of entrepreneurs committed to designing the future of the sector they represent” – Carlo Urbinati, President of FederlegnoArredo’s Assoluce

antoniolupi Flow washbasin selected for the ADI Design Index 2024 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/11/29/antoniolupi-flow-washbasin-adi-index-2024/ https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/11/29/antoniolupi-flow-washbasin-adi-index-2024/#respond Thu, 28 Nov 2024 19:00:24 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=29055 ]]> The Flow washbasin by antoniolupi has been included in the ADI Design Index 2024 – the prestigious publication by the Association for Industrial Design (ADI) that rewards the best of Italian design. The award ceremony took place in Milan, at the ADI Design Museum, in the presence of ADI President, Luciano Galimberti.

The Flow washbasin—selected in the ‘Design for Living’ category—is made of white Carrara marble and expresses an innovative design language aimed at sustainability. Continuing the successful collaboration with designer Paolo Ulian, the Tuscan company pursues its search for a balance between ancient materials and new processing techniques. Flow is an example of this philosophy, an “experimental object” that, as described by CEO Andrea Lupi, is born from the generative power of water. This washbasin, with its unique appearance, emphasises a detail that would generally be considered a flaw: the numerically controlled waterjet cut, with its fringed and pleated effect, becomes a distinctive feature in Flow.

antoniolupi-FLOW-03

Flow is not just a washbasin but a unique sculpture, capable of transforming a “defect” into an essential decoration that tells the story of marble craftsmanship. Applied to a classic material, this aesthetic innovation makes Flow “not an ordinary washbasin,” Andrea Lupi says.

antoniolupi-FLOW-02

In addition to ensuring a unique aesthetic quality, the waterjet cut also allows for greater material optimisation compared to traditional processing techniques. It makes it possible to obtain several washbasins of different diameters from a single marble block by nesting them within one another, thus improving the sustainability of the production process.

antoniolupi-FLOW-01

This recognition confirms antoniolupi’s commitment to creating cutting-edge design solutions with environmental consciousness while the Flow washbasin represents a perfect blend of contemporary aesthetics and functional innovation.

Being included in the ADI INDEX encourages the brand to continue its mission to innovate the interior design sector, carrying forward the tradition of Made in Italy with creativity and passion.

Ninka at Sicam 2024 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/11/26/ninka-at-sicam-2024/ https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/11/26/ninka-at-sicam-2024/#respond Mon, 25 Nov 2024 19:00:38 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=29027 ]]> Last month at Sicam 2024, Ninkaplast GmbH, presented a range of functional and integrated solutions inside kitchen cabinets.

From waste management and the organisation of pull-outs and drawers to storage space solutions – plastic was the material of choice at Sicam in Pordenone, Italy, in terms of both shape and colour. The complete base unit “Qanto“ which Ninka had placed in the centre of a huge kitchen island proved to be an attractive eye-catcher in Hall 2.

As if from nowhere, a food processor appeared in the centre of a flush marble worktop measuring around three square metres. However, the user did not have to stretch out to use it; the tray and its load could be pulled into easy reach. After use, the appliance disappeared back into the attractive structure at the touch of a button.

10030-0008-10-2024-01-Sicam-scaled

As a second possible application, Ninka showed the spice unit “Qanto“ equipped with three shelves within easy reach directly next to a hob in a kitchen unit. The lower shelf had space for tall bottles of oil and vinegar as well as spice mills, while the middle shelf, which was only half the size, held numerous small jars of spices. After cooking, everything is perfectly tidied away in the base unit. In this “Qanto“, the upper shelf fits into the worktop when retracted, providing a firm base for smaller kitchen utensils for preparatory cooking steps.

10030-0008-10-2024-03-Sicam-scaled

The “one2eight” waste collection system, which was positioned next to a water treatment system in the base cabinet, also proved to be an eye-catcher for visitors. The system can also be used as a solitary solution installed in the centre.

Inspired by the British market, Ninka presented 25.5-litre waste bins which can offer a total volume of 51 litres in combination with the “one2five” and “one2six” suspended frame systems in 40 cm base units. In 60 cm base units, a large bin of this type supplements the three-bin configuration with a 42- and an 8-litre bin and enables triple separation to a total of 75.5 litres. Ninka also offers a suspended waste bin solution for shallow installation depths of just 486 mm. To prepare the systems directly for installation, the manufacturer has developed a complete set with a push-to-open mechanism.

10030-0008-10-2024-04-Sicam-scaled

In addition, Ninka showed some clever combinations at Sicam. As all container systems are equipped with a static shelf-cover, above which there is usually storage space, the manufacturer suggested the use of suitable organiser trays, which are normally used in drawers.

10030-0008-10-2024-07-Sicam-scaled

Ninka was also creative when it came to the “one2top” range of bin lids and inserts: from organic waste lids with coconut mat odour filters and visually appealing metal inserts, which are particularly popular in Italy, to tidy organisation solutions with dustpans, hand brushes and cloth hangers – variety was the order of the day at the supplier trade fair for the furniture and interior design industry, which was once again very popular.

Ninka products are available in Australia through Hafele.

Decoratori Bassanesi at Cersaie 2024 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/11/01/decoratori-bassanesi-at-cersaie-2024/ Thu, 31 Oct 2024 19:00:08 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=28882 ]]> Decoratori Bassanesi presented two new surfaces designed by Federica Biasi at Cersaie, the fair held from September 23 to 27, 2024 in Bologna, a national and international focal point for the ceramic tile and bath furnishing sector.

The two new collections are inspired by elements and shapes from the Orient: Kimono, in bold, vibrant colours, takes cues from the knots and folds of the traditional Japanese robe, and Wă suggests the architecture of rural villages in China with their uneven terracotta tiles.

Decoratori-Bassanesi-Cersaie

The new products for 2024 were displayed in a contemporary, original staging featuring warm, earthy, contrasting tones that offers a tactile and visual experience of the new collections. Ceramics cover the walls and surfaces of the space, alternating with evocative photographic images illustrating the research and conception process behind their development.

“Decoratori Bassanesi is constantly committed to exploring the full potential of ceramics through innovative, audacious collections that meet the highest quality standards, – says Paolo Serraiotto, Founder and President. Those who choose our brand embrace a design-oriented approach – in fact, since 2008 the company has collaborated with international designers in the pursuit of new inspirations, welcoming new challenges and exploring the full potential of the material.”

The new products and the mise-en-scene for the latest edition of Cersaie demonstrate the brand’s aim to offer an ambitious concept of sophisticated, elegant ceramic coverings, continuing the evolution of aesthetics and form that Decoratori Bassanesi has been building together with art director Federica Biasi.

Kimono – design by Federica Biasi

The Kimono collection designed by Federica Biasi is inspired by the composition of traditional Japanese kimonos, which involves a complex series of knots and folds almost like a sort of origami: the eri collar, the sode sleeve, the doura lining of the top part of the kimono all contribute to create geometric designs with different fabrics and patterns, which Biasi draws on in creating surfaces and ways of laying them. The collection also reprises some elements form the firm’s historical archive of patterns and colours.

Decoratori-Bassanesi-Kimono

“Decoratori Bassanesi‘s historical archive was a great source of inspiration, a point of departure for an exploration of colour, ceramic yield and glazing, while the geometric motifs and bold colour combinations of the Far East opened the way to new high-contrast laying patterns, – says Federica Biasi – The Kimono collection is a reflection on the infinite possibilities of colour and material, blending distant traditions and cultures.”

Decoratori-Bassanesi-Kimono2

Kimono reprises one of the firm’s historic products, Millerighe, with references to the ceramics of the late 1980s. The project also revives a few finishes and processes typical of Decoratori Bassanesi’s early days, double-firing and enamel glazes, with their distinctive shiny texture and vibrant shimmer. With its sinuously smooth feel, Kimono offers that same sort of aesthetic effect, updated with new materials and contemporary workmanship.

The result is a textured collection in bold, vibrant tones: 8 colours, two finishes – smooth and ribbed – and 2 different sizes – 5×15 and 15×15 –encourage designers to play with combining them in creative ways.

Wă, design by Federica Biasi

The design for the Wă collection by Federica Biasi carries us away to the Orient, taking cues from the designer’s travels in China, where she was inspired by the roof tiles of pagodas and typical dwellings in rural villages.

In these buildings, irregular handcrafted terracotta tiles are layered and stacked atop one another in an interlocking system inherited from ancient, traditional Chinese techniques. The designer has translated her impressions of the patterns of these tiles into a design structure, giving rise to the Wă collection.

Decoratori-Bassanesi-Wă

“Usually, it’s the simplest elements that catch my eye, straightforward images that call up a specific vision. – says Federica Biasi – For the Wă collection, the sharp, strong lines of the buildings, with their ties to history, ancient forms of craftsmanship and the use of natural materials, were a flash of inspiration that, over time, generated the creative process the design grew out of.”

Decoratori-Bassanesi-Wă2

The Wă collection has a harmonious, warm, vivid aesthetic that blends décor with functionality and comes in four natural tones ranging from hazelnut to caramel. As in a mosaic, each individual element is repeated in a 9.5 x 18.5-cm portion that makes up the new covering, in full-body porcelain tile.

We saw exceptional results, thanks to the confidence of an ecosystem that, yet again, recognised the international leadership of the event.

During the process of redesigning the format and the experiences, we kept both industrial and manufacturing and the visitors as our focus, in a bid to stimulate both sides with a stunning Cultural Programme capable of creating new connections between the powerful roots of the design culture and the definition of new future visions.

The success of this edition is also due to the success of the Kitchen and Bathroom Biennials, in which research and development are the synthesis not only of innovation processes but are also an expression of the ability of both sectors to intercept the habits and desires of daily living”.

iGuzzini at Light+Building 2024 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/04/01/iguzzini-at-lightbuilding-2024/ Sun, 31 Mar 2024 19:00:59 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=26133 ]]> At Light+Building 2024, iGuzzini curated an immersive multi-sensory experience to present its perspective on light.

With 65 years of experience in architectural lighting, the brand teamed up with Studio GEZA for the exhibit and Artec Studio for the lighting design and scenography at the Frankfurt fair. Together, they crafted an immersive space showcasing iGuzzini’s innovative approach to light, driven by connectivity, technology, optics research and environmental responsibility.

An imaginative yet detailed presentation allowed visitors to delve into the catalogue of products and explore the latest innovations for 2024.

iGuzzini-Light+Building2024“Light that moves” epitomises iGuzzini’s core philosophy that summarises the concept of connected, responsive, intrinsically sustainable and deeply human-centric lighting, which permeates each collection and resonates through the architectural and interior projects illuminated by iGuzzini.

This concept was expressed in a new brand identity, which showcased iGuzzini’s innovative approach to creating light that transforms spaces, moves people, enriches cultures and ignites imagination.

iGuzzini-Light+Building2024In this setting, the iGuzzini light was the fifth element, enriched and diffused through a series of installations that showcase their technical, graphic and architectural capabilities. A light experience punctuated by three islands set within an ephemeral architecture, which can be viewed from both inside and outside the stand.

The entrance to the stand was marked by a sinuous, eye-shaped structure composed of 154 Light Shed Linen units, representing a biophilic version of the Light Shed system that encapsulates the present and future of the brand. The eye that welcomed visitors not only represented iGuzzini’s perspective on light but also reflected the individual, subjective viewpoints that each visitor holds regarding the objects and spaces surrounding them.

iGuzzini-Light+Building2024The lights were designed to incorporate smart technological features within a space designed for a seamless integration of functions and a harmonious relationship with people and nature: from living to working areas, from intimate to communal spaces.

The stand’s exhibit highlighted the main strategic areas of application of the iGuzzini products: Culture, Working, Hospitality & Living, Contract, Urban and Infrastructures.

Inside the stand, three light installations seamlessly combined iGuzzini’s humanistic and technological research with educational spaces focused on individual products and on optics designed and manufactured in-house. The collaboration with lighting designer Maurici Gines, founder of Artec Studio, resulted in the creation of a wonderful set design aimed at demonstrating to architects, interior designers and lighting professionals the tangible advantages the brand provides through an immersive, multi-sensory experience.

The exhibition space also featured an area dedicated to Connectivity Beyond Light, inviting visitors to explore the iGuzzini range, which includes functions beyond illumination, such as sound absorption and the integration of sensors, video cameras and loudspeakers into the luminaires.

The ray of light cast up to the marble lampshade from the base is not only an unusual design element but also brings out the veining of the marble, further accentuating the beauty of this collection.

The Marmilla lamp is available in floor, pendant and table versions, with the table lamp also available in a rechargeable version (via USB) and a metal stem made of aluminium. The light refraction highlights the play of geometrical components, creating a soft, warm and adjustable beam of light. The suspended “lightness” of the “hat” is a clever visual trick which is enhanced by the upward-facing light beam projected onto it.

Continuing the company’s focus on natural stone, Intarsia is a collection of marble inlays and mosaics which are fully customisable in size, material and compositional design. The elements serve to reinterpret marble in a contemporary fashion, featuring compositional designs that include serialised geometric characters and eclectic surfaces that have an almost dreamlike dimension. The collection harnesses inspiration from the world of nature with both free-flowing formations as well as distinct shapes that represent different creatures.

Bettisatti srl was established by Donata Mariasole Betti, Michele Citti and Valentina Satti and operates from premises in Tuscany, Italy. The studio specialises in projects across a huge scale and focusses on designing spaces for art and for living.

The 62nd edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/02/23/the-62nd-edition-of-salone-del-mobile-milano/ Thu, 22 Feb 2024 19:00:37 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=25842 ]]> The 62nd edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano will take place at Rho Fiera Milano from 16th to 21st April with a bold, new approach to industry trade fairs.

Evolution and innovation are the key words for the next edition of the trade show which has designed an open ecosystem that seeks to optimise the layout and visitor paths within the showground, thanks to the contribution of neuroscience and the organiser’s adoption of a “human-at-the-centre” philosophy.

This year the organisers have undertaken a total redistribution of the pavilions with a view to grouping the exhibitors by content and visitor targets so as to amplify the value and meaning of the visitor experience. The 2024 event will bring together more than 1900 exhibitors, including 600 young designers under 35 years and 22 design schools. The internal exhibitions include Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, Workplace3.0, S.Project, EuroCucina with FTK (appliances), the International Bathroom Exhibition and saloneSatellite.

Within the single-storey layout, a number of aesthetic paths are planned with access to experiential spaces and rest/relaxation zones including a circular bookshop and arena, and a new design library.

Salone-del-Mobile-MilanoIn the EuroCucina/FTK and International Bathroom Exhibition pavilions, visitors will enjoy a new exhibition layout – reworked by Lombardini22, a leading group on the Italian architectural and engineering scene. The studio has harnessed neuroscience to improve the visitor experience, analysing paths as well as the location and distribution of exhibition stands and rest areas. Following extensive virtual testing, a loop-shaped circuit was chosen to create a more intuitive, simpler-to-navigate system – widened pathways will improve navigation, while cultural installations and quiet areas help visitors take a moment when needed. The organisers claim it will now take only a 640 metre walk to visit all the stands (unlike 1.2kms in previous years).

SaloneSatellite 2023 (Photo Ludovica Mangini)

SaloneSatellite, celebrating 25 years in 2024, has moved to pavilions 5-7 with the theme of “Connecting Design Since 1998”. To celebrate this wonderful milestone, there is also an exhibition at the Triennale (16-28 April) that showcases the history of the exhibition.

Salone-del-Mobile-MilanoThree significant installations are planned. “Interiors by David Lynch. A Thinking Room” will be installed in pavilions 5-7. Two identical and mirrored “thinking rooms” are conceived as symbolic doors that must be entered in order to immerse oneself in the event.

Salone-del-Mobile-MilanoThe second installation “Under The Surface” is designed and produced by Accurat, Design Group Italia and Emiliano Ponzi for the International Bathroom Exhibition and will be displayed in pavilion 10. This installation engages visitors in an immersive sense and pushes them to reflect on the subject of water sustainability.

The third installation will sit right in the centre of EuroCucina as a large, fluid stage that will host six independent and international food magazines to present an original vision of the present and future of the ingredients nature has to offer. “All You Have Ever Wanted To Know About Food Design in Six Performances” is the title of this installation involving six projects that unfold on a day-by-day basis. The magazines involved are Family Style (USA), L’Integrale (Italy), Linseed Journal (UK), Magazine F (South Korea), The Preserve Journal (Austria) and Farta (Portugal).

Morning Talks and Round Tables will be held at 11am each day in the Drafting Futures Arena, designed by Formafantasma who has reused the seatings from previous shows.

For those attending the show – ticket sales are now open!

ISH 2025 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/02/09/ish-2025/ Thu, 08 Feb 2024 19:00:57 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=25731 ]]> Planning for ISH 2025 is underway with the world’s leading trade fair for HVAC + Water revealing a new concept with eight solution fields.

ISH will be held from 17-21 March 2025 at Messe Frankfurt and will focus on a broad spectrum of subject areas within the sanitation, heating and ventilation industry with a specific focus on innovations that contribute to tackling climate change. The result is a new, modern and future-oriented approach, which puts the focus of the fair more sharply than ever before on visitors and their needs.

From bathroom designers, to specialists for heating and air-conditioning technology, to experts for renewable energies and building-services control systems, the spectrum of visitors to ISH in Frankfurt is no less diverse than the spectrum covered by the industry. Under the motto, ‘Solutions for a sustainable future’, ISH 2025 will offer all participants a new, transparent and modern event structure.

ISH 2025The centrepiece of the new concept comprises eight solution fields:

 • Bathrooms
 • Water-bearing systems
 • Installation
 • Heat generation
 • Indoor air
 • Intelligent building management
 • Software
 • Sanitary & HVAC products

At the cutting edge, the subjects of sustainability and digitalisation play an important role in all fields of ISH. “In principle, the event is undergoing a kind of metamorphosis from a straightforward product exhibition to a solution-oriented application show. To this end, the new solution fields will ensure improved orientation and exact matching between the demand and supply sides. This is the basis, the foundation for a modern and powerful international meeting place”, explains Stefan Seitz, Director ISH Brand Management.

ISH 2025The inclusion of the new Hall 5, which was opened in 2023, is the key to the new ISH structure in 2025. Accordingly, the new concept will also be reflected by the layout of the fair in the individual exhibition halls. In this connection, Seitz adds, “In the future, content and knowledge transfer will take place in close thematic proximity to the relevant exhibitors, thus creating a stronger link between the presentations of innovative solutions with best-practice examples and information about developments in the market. After all, both are directly connected, and an advantage in terms of specialist knowledge is of indispensable added value for all visitors.” Accordingly, the themes will be determined at an even earlier stage, and also take account of the interests of international visitors.

Maison&Objet Report https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2024/01/30/maison-object-report/ Mon, 29 Jan 2024 19:00:13 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=25583 ]]> Our good friend and interior designer, Erika Forster from Maison DLP recently attended the Maison&Objet fair in Paris and brings us her insights from the show.

Another strong showing at Maison&Objet with a fabulous display of interior products and innovative solutions. As seen in past years at iSalone in Milan, this year I noticed home perfumes/personalised scents and “home fragrances” taking a strong position. There were so many stands at Maison & Objet either showcasing their own scents or offering customised scents.

I see so many applications for this but particularly for any business with a showroom or physical location. A signature scent for a brand gives a business that something special with which to create an iconic and memorable experience for their customers.

In terms of innovation, this year I saw a real mix of ideas – nothing starkly new but that’s not surprising as we’re still rebuilding confidence after the pandemic. I’m seeing a distinction with brands either committing to colours or committing to neutrals – but rarely both.

Maison&Objet-reportTactility is still strong across the board and throughout the sector – both visual and sensorial textures are everywhere. Particularly with neutrals, I’m seeing an injection of subtle colouring and/or a pattern to help elevate it beyond the background.

Maison&Objet-reportWe know the majority of European brands have been focussed on reducing waste and looking at their environmental impact for many years so it’s no surprise to see that on display at Maison & Objet. Some brands are now committing to 100% recycled material product line offerings and others making beautiful objects from excess production of base materials within their industries.

Maison&Objet-reportThe idea of handcrafting is predominant – whether the “real deal” or the aesthetic of the handcrafted. There’s more attention to detail in wooden furniture. Tapering and curves to edging or rough and rugged detailing. Yes, we’ve seen this with some high-end companies but the prevalence of this development across the fair is notable.

Maison&Objet-reportI discovered a couple of concept zones which were interesting as many aimed to shift mindsets and take a deeper look at some areas of the home that are traditionally more functional. I saw a lovely mix of materials, textures and colours to make these spaces more interesting and engaging, again, with the sense of smell being thoughtfully included.

As a kick-start show for 2024, I found Maison & Object to be very thought provoking and I’m keen to see what iSalone and Milan Design Week in April will contribute to our ongoing design conversation. Enjoy this slide show walk through of the show.

Road to Salone 2024 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2023/12/22/road-to-salone-2024/ Thu, 21 Dec 2023 19:00:57 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=25459 ]]> The Salone del Mobile.Milano international promotional tour for the 62nd edition of the trade fair is underway, taking in seven European and American destinations.

The Salone del Mobile.Milano has positioned itself internationally with a road trip geared to promoting the upcoming edition – scheduled for 16th to 21st April 2024 in Milan. It’s goal is to discuss the future of home living along with the world’s design community.

The roadshow is a unique opportunity to promote all the events and pass on initial information regarding the format and content of the 62nd Milan edition of iSalone: with a reworked layout and exhibition paths – again informed by a wide range of contributions at round tables attended by companies and stakeholders – will put visitors and their needs increasingly at the centre.

The biennial EuroCucina and International Bathroom Exhibition will be back, the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of SaloneSatellite will include a great exhibition in the city and a structured programme of installations and talks will be held in the trade fair pavilions, to foster open discussion between business and design culture, in keeping with the formula that ensured the success of Euroluce and The City of Lights, a luminous and illuminated palimpsest of exhibitions and international cameos.

The tour will provide an opportunity to reflect on the challenges facing the design world and on what home living will look like in the future, thanks to the involvement of special guests who will discuss and promote design culture as narrated and interpreted by the Salone, highlighting its quality, know-how, practical and aesthetic value and human and emotional component.

The tour started in the French capital with the designer Patrick Jouin, while the London leg featured the British designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, the German designer Konstantin Grcic appeared in Berlin, Luca Nichetto and the young Danish designer Felicia Arvid in Copenhagen.

The key themes are the importance of the power of vision and innovation in the large events and industrial design world, the need for an increasingly human-centric and inclusive culture, focused on communities and individuals, the need for multidisciplinary dialogue between different cultural and geographical areas and, last but not least, sustainability, a field in which the Salone del Mobile has already notched up a major milestone, ISO 20121 certification for sustainable events management, achieved at the latest edition.

The tour is also being promoted via the Salone digital platform highlighting the expanded opportunities within a digital ecosystem, allowing the tour to be followed online thanks to in-depth analysis, interviews, and backstage moments shared on the Salone website and its social media channels.

TKBB will be in Milan in April 2024 to absorb all the wonders of Milan Design Week so look out for special editions of the blog coming your way!

Miason&Objet 2024 – Tech Eden https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2023/12/07/miasonobjet-2024-tech-eden/ Wed, 06 Dec 2023 19:00:29 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=25303 ]]> In 2024, Maison&Objet will celebrate 30 years of French-inspired excellence in the home décor, design and lifestyle industry. Marking this occasion, the show will take visitors on a journey to a re-enchanted future, where technology and nature exist in harmony.

Challenging the antithesis in its title, TECH EDEN, the theme of this anniversary year will be explored throughout 2024 at the Paris fair, in the city’s showrooms, and on M.O.M marketplace across the three key focus areas: interior architecture, retail, and hospitality.

TECH EDEN conveys a dream-like optimism through shape and colour, focussing this time on a futuristic biophilia, a new world of well-being.

Through immersive experiences, TECH EDEN invites professionals to rethink spatial design and layout, augmented by technological innovation, and employing innovative aesthetic and environmental approaches.

TECH EDEN will take place in several different locations, giving expression to its futuristic aesthetics and technological advances, as well as its gentle approach and appetite for a return to biophilia. Venues are becoming hybridised, and their uses more diverse.

The retail, seen through 3 trends

More than a simple presentation, the “What’s New? In Retail?” space has evolved into a genuine think-tank for the now omni-channel distribution sector, offering a selection of new products, a programme of workshops and conferences, a café, and a wealth of merchandising ideas. François Delclaux will thus present a space for sourcing, inspiration and exchange, in collaboration with the global design agency BETC. The scenography of the venue has been given the softest of designs, where “tech” makes a discreet appearance, expressed by enveloping materials, natural forms, and gentle colours. This will serve as a showcase for three major trends: sustainable minimalism, responsible brutalism (re-use and recycling of materials), and organic fluidity.

Maison&Objet 2024

The home as a soothing cocoon

In a post-confinement context, the home, behaviours and practices are being transformed by remote working, open- source technology, and e-commerce. The strong emerging trend in interiors continues: the private residence is regarded as a refuge, a soothing cocoon with a friendly, modular design; the living room becomes an office, while the bathroom is a living room dedicated to well-being. At the show, Elisabeth Leriche’s “What’s New? In Decor” trend space will focus on a fresh approach to interior decoration inspired by the theme of the session and translated into patterns, textiles, installations and immersive décor.

Maison&Objet 2024

The hospitality sector as an escape pod

At the heart of the “Hospitality Lab”, Peclers Paris will offer three biophilic, immersive and future-focused escape pods in its Trends Forum: awakening, active and regenerative. Each of these will embody one of the facets of a hospitality sector that is constantly evolving and offering new approaches to the beneficial getaway experience: the cafe blends into a well-being space, luxury spas pop up in hotel rooms and offer multi-sensory experiences, and waiting locations such as airports or train stations mutate into sports halls thanks to the latest immersive technologies.

SaloneSatellite on display at Rinascente https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2023/10/20/salonesatellite-on-display-at-rinascente/ Thu, 19 Oct 2023 19:00:24 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=24647 ]]> For the 9th consecutive year, 14 products featured at SaloneSatellite will be on display and for sale at Rinascente.

From 5th October to 6th November, the products will be featured at the Design Supermarket, chosen for their focus on materials and the environment and for their excellent eclecticism.

SaloneSatellite and RinascenteExperimentation, innovation, craftsmanship, sustainability and inclusion make up the common threads between these objects and furnishings, with their striking design, which simplifies and softens the forms and cuts down on material, in tune with an increasingly keen environmental awareness. Products that demonstrate the fact that young designers are not afraid to chance their hand experimenting, taking risks and promoting a greener future.

The selected objects and makers are…

AHOKPE + CHATELIN (Belgium)

KU DO AZÒ Hammock

SaloneSatellite and RinascenteA hanging bed designed and woven in Benin for European interiors. Conscious of their textile, craft and industrial heritage, the designer duo obtained the fabric for the hammock from unravelled yarn from the jumpers that end up on the African markets, and the shape depends on the available material.

ALEKSI REMSU (Finland)

ÉCLIPSE ATELIER Lamp Collection

SaloneSatellite and RinascenteA limited range of sculptural wall-lights, playing on tensile structures and simplicity. The structure is made up of three pieces and a bulb, assembled exclusively by tensioning a brass sheet. The design process for the collection was informed by experiments with techniques for folding paper onto metal sheets, which made it possible to create three-dimensional shapes that reflect the light in an interesting and evocative way. Each lamp is fashioned by hand.

ALLCA (Spain)

SUN RUG, ESPIRAL RUG, MINDSET RUG Rugs

SaloneSatellite and RinascenteRugs made from recycled and recyclable polyester, woven by hand, and digitally printed. The innovative production process – rooted in sustainable ethics, awareness and creation – obviates the need to dye the yarn, and broadens the expressive potential of the objects, while customised and co-created pieces can be produced on request. The rugs contain a number of different references: the abstract, minimalist landscapes evoke feelings bound up with nature and meditation. They are both peace and recall, energy and serenity. They explore the effects of colours on our emotions, creating a sacred and introspective space.

ANDREÍNA RAVENTÓS (Spain)

INFINIGHTY COLLECTION Lamp

SaloneSatellite and RinascenteThe Infinighty Collection represents the journey of life, with its ups and downs, its constant light showing us the way. Hand-made from natural materials, to highlight human imperfections.

DAVIDE APOLLONI (Italy)

LO-VE Table

SaloneSatellite and RinascenteLO-VE was born from the collaboration between a young architect and an elderly entrepreneur, one in London and the other in Verona. The shape of the table was dictated by the attempt to freeze the sinuous movements of a ballerina draped in voile. The pirouettes of the base make up

a structure that serves as both support and adornment, with its harmonious, gentle and decorative shapes. The high quality of the materials and the Italian workmanship elevate the product.

DEDÀLEO (Italy)

SNAP Armchair

SaloneSatellite and RinascenteThis armchair is a tribute to Milan, the city in which its designer, Ntaiana Charalampous, studied and Cyprus, the island on which she was born. It comprises a steel structure, hand-sewn wool cushions and extra-fine fabrics originally destined for men’s suits (Loro Piana). The Snap armchair is an example of how design can lift a functional object into a work of art.

EGOUNDESIGN® (Italy)

SIBI Seat, small table and container

SaloneSatellite and RinascenteSIBI is a multifunctional indoor and outdoor modular system comprising a seat, small table and a container, the upshot of an exploration of the concepts of adaptation and interaction with design in mind. Produced by 3D printing – it is empty on the inside – it is hard-wearing and light, easy to put to use according to the desired function and is modular and stackable with other elements.

JOAQUIN IVAN SANSONE (Spain)

JUNKI + LAMP Stool and Lamp

SaloneSatellite and RinascenteThis extremely lightweight yet robust stool, made entirely of cane, was informed by research into the material. Junki harnesses the combined force of each element and is completely devoid of industrial processes, demonstrating the resilient power of nature. Simple and expressive, this seat exudes nature and comfort, cosiness and fellowship. Lamp is an object made of high quality materials which, depending on the side from which it is observed, looks as though it is on or off, with the accent on volume or linearity, warmth or coolness.

XINSHI (China)

THE STORY OF THE LINE Chair

SaloneSatellite and RinascenteThe concept that inspired the project was the fascinating sinuosity of curls. The chair is full of elasticity and vitality. A mixture of humour and elegance. An attempt to blur cultural boundaries to shape a new integration.

ZARA ADLER, (Denmark)

COMA + HIELO Vases

SaloneSatellite and RinascenteComa is a 3D-printed translucent bowl that radiates a diffused light. The fruit bowl is soft to the touch and shaped like a halo cloud, condensing the smell of fresh fruit and vegetable inside it.

Hielo can be used as a translucent small table or vase, and reflects a soft light. The base takes the shape of a drop of water and when two shapes are merged they can form a new whole, adapting to different domestic situations. Both pieces are made with materials traditionally regarded as waste products which, through experimentation, demonstrate new potential and inform spectacular objects with the accent on colour, light and tactility.

The next edition of SaloneSatellite will be held in April 2024 as part of Salone del Mobile.Milano and you can be there in person with AIDT’s 2024 International Tour to experience the show and the best of young and emerging designers. Don’t miss out!

Margraf at Marmomac 2023 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2023/10/11/margraf-at-marmomac-2023/ Tue, 10 Oct 2023 19:00:00 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=24570 ]]> Margraf was in the spotlight at Marmomac 2023 with a new stand in the outdoor area and a new business partnership with Basaltite®.

The stunning 300sqm stand was designed by Raffaello Galiotto featured the innovative Velata Collection, with the display inside showcasing Margraf’s capacity to handle marble like a fabric.

Margraf-MarmomacRaffaello Galiotto also designed the Velata Collection itself, which can be seen in a large glazed space on one of the long sides of the stand. It features items of furniture covered with Bianco Covelano marble that has been shaped to look like fabric gently blowing in the wind. Cutting-edge design work with parametric software and processing with CNC machinery were complemented by expert manual finishing by in-house staff.

Margraf-MarmomacHanging from the curved wall are six drapes made from coloured marble (Cremo Italia, Breccia Bohemien, Fior di Pesco Carnico®, Grigio Carnico, Breccia Imperiale and Nero Pagoda) that appear to be billowing in the air. They represent the wide range of materials in the company’s catalogue and demonstrate its ability to produce “tailored” creations that can satisfy even the most demanding clients.

Margraf-MarmomacThe exhibition space is open on two sides and the entire display is designed tell a story that can be read in different ways depending on your view. It sums up the unique traits of Margraf, which can cover every step in the production chain.

Margraf-MarmomacInside, Basaltite®, – a grey, natural volcanic material – is laid in a free-length pattern on the floor and in an overlapping and offset arrangement on the wall. Centre stage in the welcome lounge for visitors goes to exclusive Fior di Pesco Carnico® marble, for which Margraf has the only existing quarry in the world. It can be seen on the counter of the bar in book-match style (Ipogeo Collection), in a 3D wall covering (Fluctus Collection) and on partition walls with brise-soleil rectangular tiles.

Margraf-MarmomacFinally, the furnished space looks out onto a garden area outside, where eight blocks of superior marble are on display (two of Fior di Pesco Carnico®, two of Breccia Bohemien, two of Polaris Gold and two of Travertino Alabastrino). They are all parallelepipeds and they are laid out in a regular grid to form a small maze. They look like they are floating above a bed of grass, which calls to mind the natural characteristics of the authentic stone.

Salone del Mobile.Milano obtains ISO 20121 certification for sustainable events management https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2023/09/26/salone-del-mobile-milano-obtains-iso-20121-certification-for-sustainable-events-management/ Mon, 25 Sep 2023 20:00:59 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=24406 ]]> Salone del Mobile.Milano has announced that it has been awarded ISO 20121 certification for sustainable events management.

The certification was granted in recognition of the work done to prevent, mitigate and offset any potential negative effects of the 2023 edition on the environment and or on people.

DesignWithNature | Mario Cucinella Architects@Diego Ravier. Courtesy Salone del Mobile

The verification process was undertaken by the multinational certification company RINA. This certification recognises and rewards the Salone’s ethical and sustainable path, attests to greenwashing compliance, and will serve to steer the events management system towards continuous improvement. It also provides the basis on which the Salone is moving forward, reflecting rationally and laterally around achieving an “even more” ecological co-existence of fairs and the environment, in order to identify the next steps and actions to be taken to bring the sustainable transformation of the sector to completion.

The Salone del Mobile.Milano will also be one of the protagonists of the Sustainable Italy initiative – organised by the Italian Consulate General in New York, in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency ICE and coordinated by the Italian Embassy in Washington – at the Nest Climate Campus, geared to promoting Italy’s ability and primacy in the field of environmental sustainability.

Sustainable Italy will bring together a collection of the best case histories of Italian companies that have embarked on the path to genuine ecological and climate transition, brands that espouse sustainability as an essential growth factor and believe that it must be pursued, vertically, in all supply chains. A great many talks and debates have been arranged on this subject. The Salone will contribute to the occasion with Design with Nature, the installation created together with the architect Mario Cucinella in 2022, as part of the 60th anniversary edition of the trade fair. The project discussed the themes of circular economy and reuse, based on the idea of cities as possible “reserves” of the future, in which many of the raw materials required for construction can be found.

By taking part, the Salone will be bringing its own thinking around ethics, circularity, the domestic space, participatory architecture, urban regeneration and upcycling to the attention of an international audience of protagonists of cultural debate, in the belief that there will be those who will draw lessons and inspiration from this that will help accelerate the process of identifying effective solutions to limit the negative effects of climate change.

DesignWithNature | Mario Cucinella Architects@Diego Ravier. Courtesy Salone del Mobile

Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile.Milano said: “ I am extremely proud that the trade fair has achieved this major milestone: the credit goes to the work and commitment of a whole team that…has never been side-tracked by the difficulties of the path ahead. I see this certification as a new starting point – by continuing to weigh up our own environmental impact and by cultivating sustainable behaviours, as well as involving and enjoying the support of our stakeholders, we want to become a point of reference and a source of inspiration to the sector as a whole, following a business model that is as ethical as possible and that responds intelligently and coherently to the increasingly complex challenges that lie ahead.”

The next Salone del Mobile.Milano will be held from 16-21st April 2024.

With a spectacular location and approximately 140 attendees, Nover had a jam-packed four days which included a welcome dinner at Ballarat on the first night sponsored by Platinum. It was a warm welcome from all and one of the highlights of the event was the opportunity for Nover’s partners to connect with each other and share stories and ideas.

NoverOn Day 2, Abey Australia was the sponsor for the adventurous Group activities! These included a Nomad 4WD Safari and KJet Jetboating for the more daring! What a great way to see the amazing scenery of Queenstown. This was followed by a relaxing lunch at Blue Kanu.

The following couple of days consisted of leisure, relaxation and so many optional tours such as Oxbow, Ziptrek, Earnslaw & Walter Peak. Everyone who attended was buzzing with energy and it was set in the perfect backdrop by the mountains.

NoverThe finale dinner on the last night was held at The Winehouse and sponsored by Hideaway Bins. What a great night filled with laughs, dinner, dancing, and great memories! Comedian Simon McKinney had the crowd laughing all night and The Hamiltones had everyone singing and dancing!

Nover would like to thank all our sponsors for being part of its Star Partner event and everyone who helped organise this memorable trip as well as all of the Star Partners who attended. Without your support, the event would not have been as successful. Not only did the Star partner event provide a great opportunity for networking and building relationships, but it also showcased the incredible beauty and adventure that Queenstown has to offer!

“LIGHT UP your creativity” with Domus Line at INTERZUM 2023 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2023/05/17/light-up-your-creativity-with-domus-line-at-interzum-2023/ Tue, 16 May 2023 20:00:58 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=23306 ]]> “LIGHT UP your creativity”, this is Domus Line’s claim for INTERZUM 2023, the summary of a package of innovations that aims to stimulate the creativity and imagination of the company’s commercial and industrial partners, in keeping with its broader re-branding plan.

A project that takes shape in a vision where light becomes a creative element as well as a functional one. With the lighting design solutions for furniture proposed by Domus Line, it is possible to create environments that reflect the lifestyles of those use them, in which light helps to define the spaces and moods.

This innovative approach makes it possible to transform luminaires from simple accessories into creative elements that express the user’s own personality and how they experience the home, adding originality and harmony to living spaces.

SYSTEMA

DomusLine-InterzumTo go beyond boundaries, conventions and conceptual schemes. These are the objectives of the SYSTEMA project, a name that encapsulates the essence of a proposal which transforms an everyday action – arranging things, tidying them up – into a holistic and transversal proposal – a luminous furniture system.

DomusLine-InterzumThe result of the partnership between Domus Line and the architect Andrea Federici, at the heart of SYSTEMA is the holistic vision of design, offering infinite dimensional configurations and functional combinations of an object that focuses on the person and his or her behaviour but also on the environment in which it will be installed and used, with the aspiration of offering everyone an optimal experience.

SYSTEMA is a configuration created from a single linear structural profile that can be applied to any wall – masonry, plasterboard, wood, metal – guaranteeing installation without visible screws. The structural profile has been designed to feature an upper light chamber with recessed optics that, by concealing the focal point, cancels the glare effect. The diffusers, in diffusing opal methacrylate, run along the entire length of the profile, offering a combination of wall washing light projection on the upper side and functional light projection on the lower side.

IO

DomusLine-InterzumEssential design and versatility are the key features that make IO a functional and aesthetically appealing bathroom furniture solution, not only for the home but also for the world of hospitality. IO is a suspended system of storage units and shelves designed to furnish even small bathrooms.

DomusLine-InterzumThe result of the collaboration between Domus Line and Damiano Latini, IO is available in single and double module versions, and can be attached to the wall to hang suspended above the washbasin. The vertical upright has a rear groove to accommodate the LED strip and two side rails to attach the horizontal profiles.

DomusLine-Interzum Thanks to an innovative coupling system, the horizontal bars can slide along the rail and be fixed at the preferred height. IO’s simple and elegant structure is enhanced by the LED LED lighting that outlines its contours, and by a variety of accessories that allow it to be configured in line with what is expected of each individual installation. The shelves and other accessories are easily attached to the crossbars with no need to screw them on.

WAVE

DomusLine-InterzumWAVE is an exclusive, patented Domus Line project inspired by the most innovative headlight units of the automotive sector with dynamic switching on. The WAVE technology applied to Domus Line’s dual-colour D-Motion perimeter light sources allows for progressive and synchronised switching on of all the luminaires connected to a common dedicated control system.

DomusLine-InterzumThe dynamic nature of the light arouses an emotion that is capable of releasing a sense of surprise and beauty. The added value brought by the WAVE technology to the luminaires means being able to offer the market a solution that is not only innovative but also distinctive. The WAVE configuration applied to the luminaires of the UNIKA D-MOTION and HOLL D-MOTION collection is developed by combining a luminaire that integrates a dedicated switch with the slaves.

DomusLine-InterzumThe TDM (Touch Dimmer Master) switch allows the progressive and synchronised switching on of all the light sources, and their switching off in reverse sequence. It can also be used to regulate brightness and to select the colour temperature of the individual luminaire and those connected to the output cable of the master luminaire.

Interzum 2023 – what will be important tomorrow https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2023/04/24/interzum-2023-what-will-be-important-tomorrow/ Sun, 23 Apr 2023 20:00:13 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=23130 ]]> Important developments, trends and future themes for furniture, materials and interior design will be presented on the knowledge platform of Interzum 2023.

With societal changes and the current global political situation, the expectations we have of future design are also changing. Interzum 2023 will showcase the exciting innovations presently in development and demonstrate the potential they offer the supplier sector.

Interzum 2023
Presentations were held online during interzum @home 2021

The Interzum Trend Stage is one of my favourite places to visit at the show and, this year, the trade fair was lucky enough to secure the services of Katrin de Louw, owner of TRENDFILTER®, as an independent curator of the Trend Stage.

The programme she has compiled will shed light on the most important developments and future themes for furniture, materials and interior design. The programme offers a thematic range for the industry, extending from the waste and circular economy through bio-based materials, the digitalisation of processes and coming colour trends to sustainability, mattress recycling, targeted product simplification or 3D GCI.

Interzum 2023
Presentations were held online during interzum @home 2021

“The main topics are, of course, sustainability, in particular the circular economy and innovative materials, as well as digitalisation”, the trend expert explains. Renowned experts in these fields have been invited to share their knowledge with visitors. In this context, the programme of the Trend Stage corresponds with the trend forums “Materials & Nature”, “Function & Components” and “Textile & Machinery”, which show how creatively the furniture supplier industry is reacting to sustainable requirements.

Neo-ecology will feature as a leading theme of Interzum 2023 on the Trend Stage. Here, both well-known experts and young designers and start-ups aspiring to create a transparent, regional and sustainable circular economy are given a platform.

Interzum 2023
Presentations were held online during interzum @home 2021

Since the majority of a product’s ecological impact is determined by its design, there is enormous potential here for the transformation towards circularity. A number of presentations on the Trend Stage specifically address how circular-economy products are designed and manufactured. However, circular design presents an opportunity not only for more sustainable product design, but also for new business models.

In our fast-paced times, however, design must also adapt to current requirements changing more rapidly all the time. The Trend Stage will explore how societal trends are influencing our habits, or how various lifestyles are having an impact on interior design. Psychological factors also play a part here, as do the latest furnishing trends.

Interzum 2023
Presentations were held online during interzum @home 2021

Digital transformation provides another area of focus in the programme of the Interzum Trend Stage. Refined technologies open up new possibilities in design and in the production of furniture components. Through the use of 3D technology, high-quality surfaces, for example, can be produced without the use of chemical materials. Digital processes are also automating the production of images and ensuring that they can be made available for individual customer requirements and product variants. Thus, with augmented reality, for example, furniture can be positioned three-dimensionally in space without having to actually be on site.

You can find the current programme of the Trend Stage here.

AWISA announces ACFA as new managers for the AWISA exhibition https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2023/04/19/awisa-announces-acfa-as-new-managers-for-the-awisa-exhibition/ Tue, 18 Apr 2023 20:00:35 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=23105 ]]> ACFA has been chosen by the AWISA Board to manage the AWISA Exhibition, starting with the 2024 AWISA Show to be held next July.

The Australian Cabinet and Furniture Association (ACFA) and The Australian Woodworking Industry Suppliers Association (AWISA) have enjoyed a strong relationship for many years, based on mutual respect and appreciation of what each association provides to our industry. AWISA has been a long-term supporter of the ACFA Industry Awards, particularly as the partner of the Cabinet Maker of the Year award.

ACFA AWISAOver several months, ACFA and AWISA have been in discussions on ways they can work more closely together. The industry now has two strong bodies combining their efforts to provide major benefits to all sectors of our industry and its stakeholders.

The ACFA Team has been preparing for the handover and is eager to add their skill set and resources in continuing to provide a world-renowned exhibition for our industry. This step is a great opportunity for ACFA to build upon their tagline “For Industry By Industry”, and advocate on behalf of the entire sector.

This announcement will not change the services and benefits of your ACFA Membership. ACFA is excited to start this new journey as it celebrates its 75th Anniversary this year.

Brett Ambrose, Chairman of the AWISA Board, says, “For over 30 years the Australian Woodworking Industry Suppliers Association and the AWISA exhibitions have been managed by Geoff and Laurel Holland of Contact Exhibitions Pty Ltd. Some time ago, Geoff Holland indicated that he wished to start planning for retirement.

Discussions were started with the Australian Cabinet & Furniture Association. ACFA has been in operation since 1948 as an employer association in the woodworking industry. ACFA also has a Registered Training Organisation arm in its business model. Over the years ACFA has also been in event management with furniture fairs, awards functions and conferences. In ACFA, AWISA has found an organisation that combines woodworking experience and event management skills.

Among ACFA’s team are experienced individuals who will manage all aspects of the AWISA trade show in 2024. The CEO of ACFA, Dean Brakell, has over 30 years’ experience in woodworking manufacturing and is well known to many AWISA members.

Geoff Holland has been responsible for the launch of space sales for AWISA 2024. However, once the initial booking process has been completed and the applications tabled at the AWISA board meeting on 21 April 2023, the process of getting applicants to choose their stand locations will be handled by Fiona Joynes, Program Manager at ACFA. Contact Exhibitions Pty Ltd will continue to be fully involved with AWISA until 31 July 2023, at which time ACFA will take over full responsibility for the exhibition and for association management. Contact Exhibitions will continue to manage the AWISA magazine until 31 December 2023”.

“Shaping the change”: Interzum 2023 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/2023/02/27/shaping-the-change-interzum-2023/ Sun, 26 Feb 2023 19:00:15 +0000 https://thekitchenandbathroomblog.com.au/?p=22816 ]]> Interzum 2023 will take place from 9-12 May with the new slogan “shaping the change”, placing greater emphasis on key issues for the future such as sustainability, climate protection and resource efficiency.

With “neo-ecology” as the overarching central theme, the leading international trade fair for furniture production and interior design is establishing a new focus and drawing attention to its future-oriented innovative strength. After the digital interzum @home edition in 2021, the industry event will finally take place again as a live experience in Cologne’s exhibition halls.

Playing a proactive role: the innovative strength of the supplier industry

Changes in our living and working environments have arguably rarely been felt as keenly as they are today. The coronavirus pandemic and its consequences, climate change and rising energy prices are presenting us with enormous challenges. Megatrends such as increasing digitalisation and individualisation and, in particular, the growing need for greater sustainability are also influencing the way we live and work.

But what will tomorrow’s living spaces look like? How will furniture and interiors need to be designed in the future? Koelnmesse, the organiser of Interzum, expects approximately 1,400 companies from around 60 countries to present their groundbreaking new products, technical innovations and revolutionary material solutions to a global audience at the world’s largest and most important industry event. It’s here that the supplier industry demonstrates the full scope of its capacity for innovation and in doing so plays a decisive and proactive role in shaping the change.

Overarching central theme – neo-ecology: fresh inspiration for the interior design world

In keeping with its slogan, “Shaping the change. Go create conscious living spaces”, Interzum invites participants and visitors to find new answers to current and future design questions. In 2023, the leading international trade fair will focus on sustainability, climate protection and resource efficiency through its overarching central theme of “neo-ecology”, because these topics are of decisive importance to the development of future-oriented innovations. With sustainable products and manufacturing processes, many companies in the supplier industry are already fulfilling their social responsibilities. By placing an even greater emphasis on sustainable practices and discussing the issues, Interzum will continue to drive the conversation forward so that new solutions can be developed together.

Hybrid trade fair experience offers inspiration galore

In order to present brand-new solutions to an international audience, the upcoming Interzum will combine the benefits of a traditional in-person trade fair with those of a digital event. Interzum @home in 2021 was successful in laying the foundation for this approach. In 2023, international exhibitors and experts will shine a light on the trade fair’s familiar themed segments, both on-site in Cologne and in the digital space. Function & Components is dedicated to fittings, locks and built-in furniture parts as well as lighting and lighting systems, Materials & Nature revolves around pioneering materials and manufacturing techniques, while Textile & Machinery showcases the most important innovations in mattress production and upholstery materials such as fabrics and leather and explores how they fit into the concept of a circular economy.

Interzum’s “Shaping the change” philosophy and the overarching central theme of “neo-ecology” will also be taken up in 2023’s wide-ranging event programme. Themed special events – the interzum Trend Forums – will highlight the creativity and flexibility of the furniture supplier industry in responding to the challenges of our time. The latest furniture and interior design sector topics will be presented to an international trade audience with reference to key trends. With the Product Stage and the Trend Stage, Interzum offers additional opportunities for exhibitor and product presentations as well as a platform for addressing market-specific and design-related issues of the future.
